BlackPepper Technologies: enabling transformative end user experiences through silicon and system design

The history of semiconductors begins with experiments on the electrical properties of materials. The properties of the negative temperature coefficient of resistance, rectification, and light-sensitivity were observed starting in the early 19th century.

There is no denying that semiconductors will become an integral part of our evolution, as we witness the evolution of the intelligent devices consumed by us in all walks of life.

With the Internet of Things (IoT) quickly going mainstream and the growth rates for the smartphones market leveling off, smart semiconductor technology has been driving innovation and enabling proper communication and networking.

Since semiconductors stay as clandestine in phones, tablets, and computers, many semiconductor companies stay low and quietly do business with the companies that manufacture devices.

Currently, countries like USA, Japan, Israel, South Korea, China, and the European Union dominate the semiconductor industry. In India, we have seen quite a few semiconductor based companies, but most of them are reflection of their global parent company or services focused company.

We don't have many end to end silicon and system Design Company. BlackPepper currently is bridging that gap and enabling global companies for their silicon or system design requirements.

BlackPepper Technologies incorporated right after 2008 financial crisis, with timing not favorable to raise capital from the market, initial years went into building the core foundation, people, technology process that ensured the future success of the company with the right growth and scalability of the company.

BlackPepper is poised to become a billion dollar valued company listed on the Indian browses by 2021.

The Offerings

BlackPepper, an "arm-Approved Design Partner (ADP)"and a trusted design partner for a dozen Tier-1 semiconductor companies. They continue to aggressively expand their global footprint, leveraging its two core assets – LTE and EYWA.

LTE/Lean Tall Engineering is a focused return to first principal engineering tenets of yesteryears where a single engineer was massively multi-skilled rather than skills and capabilities being sliced and diced across a slew of less experienced engineers.

EYWA is their homegrown, unique technology framework that allows optimization of human and computation of resources enabling complex designs to predictably converge to closure.

They now have distinct functional units ranging from Embedded S/W, Logic Design, Design for Test, Physical Design, Board Design, Analog & Mixed Signal Design, Post Silicon Validation, Yield Optimization and Supply Chain Management.

These units can operate independently or can be stitched together into integrated clusters to execute programs on a turnkey basis. BlackPepper is now a fully fledged silicon and system design company; they have been solving critical and complex silicon and system programs for Automotive, Medical, Defense, Industrial Automation and IoT industries.

It holds diverse design capabilities to provide comprehensive turnkey solutions to tier 1 to tier 3 companies.

Core Belief System for BlackPepper

BlackPepper believes that the ecosystem will be aligned on four important pillars, "SENSE, COMPUTE, SECURE AND NETWORK" and accordingly the solutions provided will incorporate all these or relevant areas as part of the solutions.

The solution wrapped around with the creative Industrial Design (ID), will make the end user experience out of the world. In the future, the hardware could become a commodity and the services will be where the companies generate revenues.

With over a decade of semiconductor SoC design experience, strict axioms of quality, constant improvement in R & D, technology, and processes, and the hard work of a dedicated team of professionals, BlackPepper Technologies became an Indian brand recognized globally.

BlackPepper Technologies is growing exponentially year on year through organic means. With a cumulative expertise of more than 500 years of combined experience in the field, the management team witnessed, participated and shaped the complete evolutionary phase of the industry.

Milestones

Started with just one customer and today, BlackPepper have more than 15 global semiconductor companies as customers and also they now have an end to end silicon system design player.

  • India Emerging Twenty (IE20), created by London & Partners and launched by the Mayor of London, has a mission to discover 20 of India's most innovative and high-growth companies to help them grow to London. For 2018, BlackPepper Technologies is one among the 20 companies

  • The firm won "First Prize in the ELCINA defEnnovation Awards for 2018 in the MSME category"

  • BlackPepper has been named in the "10 most promising Semiconductor Companies 2018" by Silicon India

  • ELCINA-EFY 2017 awards ,BlackPepper Technologies was awarded 1st prize for "Entrepreneurial Excellence"

Future

As India is poised for rapid take off to become a manufacturing center for the world, the organization is looking forward to setting new standards of excellence in electronics and introducing a new range of products and services to the furthest corners of the globe. It also aims at becoming a billion dollar company with its public listing.
