History
The origin story of Madhya Pradesh starts from the Paleolithic age, when human being used to life in caves. The Bhimbetka cave paintings of the state prove this fact. When it comes to chronicling, its history regresses Ashoka's time. The grandfather of Askhoka, Chandra Gupta Maurya took the foundation of Mauryan Empire in Northern India. After Ashoka's death, Mauryan Empire got a setback and subsequently ebbed away into oblivion.
After the culmination of the Mauryan Empire, there were many contestations in Central India for imperial victory amongst the Kushans, Sakas and other local dynasties, from 3rd to 1st BC. In the 4th and 5th centuries, the state attained glory when it came under the Gupta dynasty. But, the Guptas collapsed with the attack of the White Huns, who were later defeated by Yashodharman, the kind of Malwa in 528. In the medieval period, the state came under the Rajputs and great rulers like Paramaras and Chandeals ascended it to new heights of prosperity.
Late, in regions of Gondwana and Mahakoshal, Gond kingdoms emerged and the Northern part of the state came under the Muslim Delhi Sultanate in the 13th century. After the decline of power of Delhi Sultanate, Madhya Pradesh saw the burgeoning of different independent regional kingdom. After some times, the entire state became the imperial seat of the Mughal Kingdom except Gondwana and Mahakoshal. In 1707, when Aurngzab died, Marathas gained total command over the state, until their expansion impeded with the Third Battle of Panipat in 1761.
With the fall of Marathas, British dominion extended and most part of the state become princely states of British India. After India's independence, in 1956 Madhya Pradesh got the true structure of state.
CULTURE AND CUISINE
Madhya Pradesh is said to have the highest flavours of culture and tradition. Here, the culture is a harmonious blend of Buddhits, Christians, Hindus, Jains, Muslims and Sikhs along with different tribal Group. The most prominent forms of dance of the state of Lota and Phag.
Apart from its handicraft uniqueness, the state reflects painstaking craftsmanship, and Chanderi and Maheshwari silk saris are some noteworthy crafts of the state.
