"We are excited to be the first service provider's data center facility in Hong Kong to gain this coveted certification. It also underscores the continuous efforts we have taken to ensure that FDC2 achieves the best sustainability and lowest carbon footprint possible, while our society and environment can benefit from our commitment to bringing a greener future with innovative technologies," Taylor Man, Chief Technology Officer, NTT Com Asia said.

The LEED-CS 2009 certification highlights NTT Com's success in achieving sustainable development by adopting the "Think Sustainability from the Project Start" approach for building and operating FDC2. It provides the data center facility a strong roadmap all the way from design, construction, operation to service delivery stage. By combining innovative design and technologies, such as the Cooling Wall1 and Cooling Battery2, with the ultra-high density design3, FDC2 increased its cooling energy efficiency by over 20% and achieved a market-leading annualized PUE of below 1.5 at full-load. On an annual basis, FDC2 successfully minimizes energy consumption to around 60%, following the ASHRAE Standards, resulting in 357,000 tons of CO2 emission reduction. These achievements helped the leading Hong Kong data center facility to attain the full 21 points under LEED-CS 2009 EAc1 Optimize Energy Performance.

Previously, NTT Com attained LEED-CS 2009 Gold for its Financial Data Center Tower 1 (FDC1) and LEED for Existing Buildings: Operations & Maintenance Silver for its Tai Po Data Center in Hong Kong.

"NTT Communications not just positions ourselves as a technology pioneer, but also a green advocate that is committed to adopting environmental-friendly design and best practices. Moving forward, we will continue to contribute to a sustainable society by transforming our business and pioneering innovations that meet future society needs," Man added.
