  • Establishes four community Water Plants inside the JJ hospital campus to provide safe drinking water

  • These water plants will reach out to over 1,000 students studying in the hostels

In a bid to provide safe and healthy drinking water to the students staying in the hostels of JJ Hospital, the Dean of the hospital approached Eureka Forbes Institute of Environment and Rotary Club of Bombay to install four water plants as part of the Water and Sanitation thrust area and the Jal Daan initiative.

Further to this, Dr. Mukesh Batra, a homeopathy practitioner and CMD of Dr. Batra's Positive Health Clinic Pvt Ltd was invited to inaugurate the water ATMs at the JJ Hospital Campus. This initiative was highly appreciated by the hospital officials and hostel students.
 
A formal MOU was also signed on 13th April 2017 for this initiative between JJ Hospital, Rotary Club of Bombay and Eureka Forbes Institute of Environment. The aim is to provide clean and safe drinking water to over 1,000 students. Based on the request received from the hospital, Eureka Forbes Institute of Environment officials conducted a detailed survey on each of the hostel buildings, eventually recommending to install four 1000 LPH UV plants; source of water being BMC.
 
The hospital will be taking care of the daily maintenance and hygiene while Rotary Club of Bombay under their thrust area of "Water" along with Eureka Forbes Institute of Environment under their "Jal Daan" initiative will install these four plants and also provide Comprehensive AMC for 5 years along with infrastructure. These plants will be installed at the following places which are inside the campus of JJ Hospital:

  1. RM Bhatt Boys Hostel

  2. Apna Boys Hostel

  3. Apna Ladies Hostel

  4. Ladies Hostel

Talking about this initiative, Mr. A.V. Suresh, Trustee, Eureka Forbes Institute of Environment said"Eureka Forbes Institute of Environment has always been committed to ensuring that people have access to safe and healthy drinking water, no matter where they are, and to being a true 'friend for life' to the community. We are extremely glad and thankful to Sir JJ Group of Hospitals for providing us with this opportunity of installing Water ATMs inside the campus to ensure supply of safe, healthy and affordable drinking water to the students of the hostel. Across the country, we have installed many such water purifications system plants under our Jal Daan initiative in partnership with NGOs and social service organizations. In the near future also, we aim to solve the water problems across the country by installing such water shops with the help of like-minded organizations who have been championing for the cause of good health and healthy living".
 
Mr. L.P. Lahani, Dean of JJ Hospital contributed by saying, "Currently, the water purifiers set up in hostels for students are not functioning well due to lack of maintenance. Most of these students do not have access to safe and clean drinking water. Taking this need into consideration, we decided to set up 4 water plants particularly designed to meet the basic requirements of a large number of students in-house. We believe that safe drinking water is the right of every citizen and this initiative is an attempt to safeguard interests and health of our students."
 
On this occasion, Dr. Mukesh Batra – President, Rotary Club of Bombay added, "Being a part of India's oldest and largest club, one of our key focus area has been to provide clean drinking water to the communities. Through this initiative we are happy to contribute to the changing future of medicine. I am hopeful that this effort will reduce the risk of students falling ill, in turn treating more patients. As a part of our prior initiatives, we have already installed a number of water plants in areas like Malvan and seen immense success on this front."
