YOGI ADITYANATH TO FLAG OFF TEJAS EXPRESS— INDIA'S FIRST PRIVATE TRAIN

The Chief Minister of Uttar Pradesh, Yogi Adityanath finally flagged of the first private train of India, the IRCTC Tejas Express between Lucknow and Delhi. With this launch, passengers will now get to travel between Delhi to Lucknow during the festive season with world-class luxury and comfort.  The launch of this train during Navratras and the festive season is a perfect gift for business travellers and tourists. This train will cover the journey between the two cities in 6 hours and 15 minutes. It has one executive class chair car with 56 seats and nine chair cars, each car has 78 seats.

Tejas Express is the first initiative by Railway Ministry to bring private trains on Indian Railways' Network. It does not only provide a comfortable travelling experience but also introduced several first in terms of service standards, ticket reservation, cancellation, refund, and travel insurance.

First Time

• It is will first private passenger train that will run on Indian Railway's network. The success of this new experiment by Piyush Goyal-led Indian Railways will make way for private operators to run passenger trains in India.

• In Lucknow-Delhi Tejas Express, the first-time passengers will be granted a free rail travel insurance of Rs 25 lakh. This travel insurance will also cover Rs 1 lakh against robbery and household theft during the travel period of passengers.

• It will provide passengers with baggage pick up-drop facilities. Under this system, the baggage of passengers taken from their homes will be delivered on the train seats and further from the seats to the destination stay point. The facility will be available on a payable basis.

• The ticket booking facility for this train is not available on railway reservation counters. Passengers need to book their tickets on the IRCTC website or its app or through authorized IRCTC agents.

• While arriving in New Delhi, the passenger will be provided an aircraft-like snack-style meal. Passengers will get high-quality food and also separate vending machines for tea/coffee.

• For the first time, IRCTC has introduced a partial refund policy. Suppose, the train is late by over a hour, the passenger will get a refund of Rs 100, for two hours, the passenger will Rs 250.
