Shalini Shankar– A Story of Inspiration for Women in India

The status of women in India has been subjected to harsh but truly triumphant changes over the last few decades. Women in India were always and still are being perceived as home makers fit for roles only in the kitchen. However, with the help of influences from the west and many reformists over the years, women are now taking dominant roles in society and proving they can do as good as, if not better than what a lot of men can do.

Modern India has seen women take high offices like the role of the President, Prime Minister, Chief Minister and more, silencing the stereotype that has been widely perceived over the years. It's needless to say that women are not just talented, intelligent, and beautiful but also holistically cut-out-for-the-job, capable of bringing to the table, a perfect blend of both personal and professional skills.

Here's the story of Mrs. Shalini Shankar, Founder &Director of Biz Doors (A Business Consultancy & Corporate Videos Company). The story of Mrs. Shalini Shankar is a truly inspiring one, for many women all over India and all across the globe. Mrs. Shalini Shankar lives with her husband and two children in the city of Bangalore balancing her time with both the family and her professional life. She's the perfect example of how determination, fearlessness, hard work and risk taking can build empires of gold.

Prior to BizDoors, Mrs. Shalini is known for her corporate leadership roles and bold decision making abilities, consistently winning multiple Sales & Marketing awards at different levels in different organizations like Indus Balaji Fund House, ING, MaxBupa, Karvy, Standard Chartered Bank, Bajaj Allianz and more.

As for BizDoors, Shalini has helped over fifty businesses reach their target audience through creative & video consulting, strategically highlighting their services and offerings in Bangalore and across India.

While speaking to The CEO Magazine, Shalini says, "I have cradled Biz Doors like my baby. The vision of Biz Doors is to "Create Stars out of Brands". As a Sales and Branding Coach, I am able to strengthen and build brand images of Businesses using various tools, trainings and strategies. I also totally believe that people connect with people first and then their businesses. Keeping this in mind, I build People as Brands through my series of video interviews "Talking to the Point through Biz Doors". This has received amazing response and we have featured the stories of many Startups and successful Entrepreneurs."

Apart from Bizdoors, Shalini also helps run a co-owned event and entertainment business with her husband called 'Seasons Entertainment' featuring the glamorous 'Star Singer Shankar' doing over two thousand shows all over India and across the globe till date and over hundred episodes of their own show on a famous TV Channel.

Need we say more? Mrs. Shalini Shankar has truly broken the barriers of limitations for women in India and is indeed a source of inspiration and motivation for many women who dream but don't dare to challenge the status quo.

The CEO Magazine, in conversation with Shalini Shankar

TCM: What was your dream as a business lady?

Shalini: My vision is to share my sales and marketing experiences to create a positive impact on individuals and brands empowering them towards successful businesses

My dream is to speak in key Sales and Marketing forums and share my experiences with young Entrepreneurs. Every business can be successful; it just misses the right target customer or the benefit statement. My company Biz Doors wants to reach to all those businesses that are hungry for growth and looking for someone to give them that push.

TCM: What is your greatest professional accomplishment to date?

Shalini: To successfully start my Video Interview Series under Biz Doors which showcases stories of success, struggles, hits and misses of Entrepreneurs and Businesses has been my greatest accomplishment.

TCM: Have you ever failed in your initiatives? What have you learnt from your failures?

Shalini: Everyone fails sometime, it's important how fast you rebound, move on and forget about it.

TCM: What are your ideals?

Shalini: To be authentic and transparent to my clients and vendors

TCM: What is the best decision you've ever made?

Shalini: To reinvent myself by launching "Biz Doors", the company which creates successful Sales and branding stories.

TCM: What stimulated your ideas to start a new business venture or to bring significant changes in an existing business/at work place?

Shalini: I have been seeing businesses struggle because they are not able to communicate about their product benefits in the right impactful manner to the target customer. I wanted to build that bridge through my Sales Coaching, Training and Corporate Video. I wanted to share my On-field experience with the Startups and other Businesses who are hungry for growth.

TCM: What effective strategies you have implemented/initiatives you have taken to achieve success?

Shalini: Small measurable goals with a clear game plan followed with regular reviews, this is the only strategy I follow.

TCM: How do you define success? What is your take on the ways to achieve long term success?

Shalini: If one feels Happy and excited every morning to start his or her work, they are successful.

Biz Doors also would like to be an organization with Pan India presence especially in Tier 2 cities which provides complete "Sales and branding "solutions which are cost effective and impactful.

I am working on making Biz Doors to be the most respected "Video Story Channel of Entrepreneurs" across various industries and segments.

Shalini: I get inspired by achievements of common people like the daughter and son of the auto driver who got selected in IIT or made to UPSC. The lady who has nurtured 100 trees on a national highway to make sure passerby doesn't feel the heat. Her motivation is just awesome.

TCM: Whom do you attribute your success to?

Shalini: My self-motivation, never give-up attitude, hunger for growth and to be the best in what I do.

TCM: Do you think your personal life is affected by your professional life? How?

Shalini: We women are blessed to be amazing multi-tasking and are masters of balancing act between Professional and Personal life. I have been able to manage both of them well only loss has been not having time for me. For my passions and hobbies, this year resolution is to have "MyTime" back.

TCM: What do you think is the biggest challenge to female leadership?

Shalini: To be considered as serious Leaders and equal competitors. We are not just Beauty. We are Beauty with Brains.
