Because of the challenging year of the economy, both the number of billionaire and their total net worth shrank. Recently the 2019 Forbes India Rich List released in which more than half of India'100 richest saw a decline in their wealth.
It proves that even the wealthiest are not immune to economic force and weak stock markets.
Despite of slow economy, some tycoons saw big gains to their fortunes. Businessman Mukesh Ambani again became the richest person in India. This is the 12th consecutive year that Ambani has got the first position. He added $4.1 billion to his net worth as Jio became one of India's biggest carriers.
Another gainer was industrialist, Gautam Adani; he became the second-richest person of the country by jumping an impressive eight spots with a net worth of $15.7 billion.
The Hinduja brothers are on third position with a net worth of $15.6 billion, then construction tycoon Pallonji Mistry, banker Uday Kotak, tech leader Shiv Nadar, entrepreneur Radhakishan Damani are on the leading positions.

On the larger list of 100 richest people in India, few new names entered in it including Byju Raveedran, Manohar Lal and Madhusudan Agarwal, Rajesh Mehra, Samprada Singh, and Mahendra Prasad.
A name that saw a sharp fall in this list is Azim Premji. He fell from No2 to No 1. It happens due to his incredibly generous donation when he donated $7.5 billion worth of shares in Wipro to his philanthropic foundation.
