Steelbird Group was founded in 1964 by Mr. Subhash Kapur. The company which was started with a capital of Rs. 3000 is a whooping 1500 crore group.

Being the first one to bring the concept of helmets in India; producing 3000 helmets a month under its flagship company, Steelbird Hi-Tech India Ltd. (SBHT), today it is Asia's largest Helmet manufacturer. It boasts of 6 states of art plants and a manufacturing capacity of 18000 helmets a day. Steelbird helmets are supplied across globe.

With already 3 Helmet Plants in Baddi (Himachal Pradesh) SBHT is setting up a Plant in Rajasthan in 16 laces square feet with 8 laces built-up area and planning for investment of Rs. 170 Crores for this expansion project.

With the latest installed capacity, machinery and new moulds and by launching new products and Brands in many segments like Steelbird Air, Ares, Ignyte-Top-end Brand and Kukka (French brand of Helmet)  the annual revenue will double up to 500 Crores by 2018.

Mr. Rajeev Kapur – An Ingenious personality behind steelbird

And, when it comes to an unconventional sector like helmet manufacturing Mr. Rajeev Kapur is one such personality who has made helmet a fashion statement and one of the largest helmet manufacturers in Asia with 6 plants and 18000 helmets a day.

 The way he has taken his family business is a riveting story of success. Mr. Kapur, the managing director of Steelbird group, started his journey in the corporate World long time back. At the early age of 20, when all the other boys seems to be too intimidated by their hobbies and are usually  geared up to begin their fun and relaxed college life, Mr. Kapur stepped into the Business World.

"It is said that those who dare to fail greatly can even achieve greatly" Mr. Kapur has even been through the phase of insolvency but nothing could stop this young man. His failure actually acted as pillar to success. He then never looked back then. At the very young age he took market by the storm. All this happened because his dreams were not mere hallucinations. He is a man with myriad visions.  A lot can be sung in his praise. In spite of being busy with his work he never gave up on his interests. His love of music leads him to venture into entertainment industry.  It contrived to outset of steelbird entertainment.

​Rajeev's father Mr. Subash Kapur had laid the foundation of Steelbird  50 years back as a small auto component unit and later he started manufacturing helmets. Then the uncanny knack was passed to next generation and Mr. Rajeev Kapur took the market.​

In less than 2 yrs, Mr. Rajeev Kapur took the steelbird name to many countries around the Globe. The efforts of steelbird and its name in the Asian Region also resulted in an Italian collaboration with BIEFFE, the Worlds no.1 company in helmets.  Rajeev senses a huge opportunity in Helmets and he set up a hi-tech facility for making helmets in Baddi Himachal Pradesh with a robotic visor manufacturing unit.

Steelbird helmet changes the perception of helmets it used to be and steelbird started emerging as brand of repute not just in domestic but overseas market as well. Under the able stewardship of Mr. Rajeev Kapur, company has not only made its name famous in production of helmets, but has also shown variegate interests in retail, automobile parts, entertainment, motor sports etc. ​

Not only on manufacturing side but Mr. Rajeev Kapur has given his priority to R & D and today Steelbird has state of the art R & D centre. Dedicated to bring innovation, style and safety factors in today's helmets.
