SUSE is a popular name when it comes to open source. SUSE is not only the original provider of the enterprise Linux distribution, but also the most interoperable platform for mission-critical computing.

Originated in Germany, SUSE has cemented its position in the global market by delivering Linux products to business customers across the globe. In its 25-year journey, SUSE has brought in innovative and path-breaking open-source solutions for various industries such as IT, ITeS, Banking, Retail, Education and Government.

In India, SUSE has been a long-term technology partner for entities such as BSE (Bombay Stock Exchange), Greenply, Air India, Café Coffee Day and many more.

It is the primary sponsor of the community-supported openSUSE Project, which develops the OpenSUSE Linux distribution. The firm has many ‘firsts’ to its credit–the first enterprise OpenStack Cloud distro, the first Linux on Mainframe and the first Linux to make KVM and Xen available.

Alan Clark, a SUSE employee and a member of the Linux Foundation board, is the Chairman of the OpenStack Foundation. SUSE is also one of the eight Platinum Members who provide a significant portion of the funding to achieve the Foundation’s mission of protecting, empowering and promoting the OpenStack community and software. SUSE also holds a seat on the Board of Directors of OpenStack Foundation.

In India, SUSE has a well co-ordinated team of fifteen individuals who have constant contributions in the area of open source. Rajarshi Bhattacharyya, the Country Manager of SUSE India, leads operation of SUSE across India, Sri Lanka and Bangladesh. He oversees business policies, accounting practices and all administrative functions, ensuring smooth daily operations.

Under his stewardship, SUSE has crossed numerous milestones. The company has recently acquired OpenStack IaaS and Cloud Foundry PaaS Talent and Technology assets from Hewlett Packard Enterprise to expand its open source services.
