Q

A brief overview of your venture and the industry in which you operate.

A

Suroskie is an online-based skincare brand that has swiftly gained popularity in a remarkably short time frame. Its journey started from the confines of her home garage. Today, we operate from two warehouses, a testament to our remarkable growth. Deepali's vision of offering luxury skincare to the Indian market at affordable rates has been a driving force in our success.

To elevate this vision and bring it to a broader audience, Deepali was joined by her brother-in-lawPuneet Bansal, bringing his invaluable marketing skills to the table. Together, they have taken Suroskie to new heights in the skincare industry.

Q

Briefly describe your background and professional journey that led you to become an entrepreneur.

A

I was already a mom blogger and had started my entrepreneurial journey with cosmoshop_ds(an Instagram page with offerings specifically for content creators and make-up artists).

My skin had some issues for which I tried all skin care products, but none suited me and in fact, some even caused a few allergies. Then I got products from international brands that weren’t available in India at that time, and I could see visible changes in my skin, but these products were expensive and tough to source, so that was the eureka moment. Then, with the support of my husband, Mr. Rahul Bansal, I started the search to find the best manufacturers in India and get products made that match international standards, are suitable for Indian skin types, and are at the same time affordable.

Our USP is our ingredients and product range. Our ingredients are specially sourced from Germany. All our products have been getting huge love from the public. All credit goes to our product range, which is completely different from what is available and gives instant, visible results to the user.

Q

How do your solutions address specific industry challenges? What unique solutions do you bring to the table?

A

Skincare solutions address industry challenges by offering tailored approaches to various skin concerns, such as acne, ageing, or sensitivity. They do so through a combination of effective formulations, advanced technologies, and personalized recommendations. Tailoring products to skin types, concerns, and preferences, often through consultations with skincare experts.

Incorporating cutting-edge ingredients like peptides, antioxidants, or botanical extracts known for their efficacy in addressing specific skin issues. Embracing eco-friendly packaging, ethically sourced ingredients, and cruelty-free testing methods to minimize environmental impact and promote social responsibility.

Offering holistic skincare solutions that address not only external factors but also internal factors like nutrition, stress management, and lifestyle habits for comprehensive skin health.

Q

What is your definition of success? What milestones, achievements, and recognitions have marked your journey since inception?

A

For me, success can be defined in various ways, but it often includes achieving my business goals, making a positive impact, and finding personal fulfilment.

Milestones might include launching a successful product, reaching profitability, expanding into new markets, and building a strong team. Achievements could involve securing funding, gaining significant market share, receiving awards or accolades, and creating a thriving company culture.

Recognition might come from customers, peers in the industry, investors, or through media coverage. Ultimately, success for an entrepreneur is about realizing their vision, creating value, and leaving a legacy.

Q

Reflect on the challenges you faced during your entrepreneurial journey. How did you overcome these obstacles and learn from them?

A

Suroskie -started by importing color cosmetics from China, which required lots of legal work, which was a hassle. Then, starting the skincare journey, finding the right manufacturer to trust with products was the most difficult task. We met more than 500 manufacturers all over India before launching our range.

Q

In the face of recent economic fluctuations, how did you adapt and navigate successfully? Share strategies that helped maintain your company’s stability.

A

In response to recent economic fluctuations, our skincare brand adopted several key strategies to maintain stability. We diversified our product offerings to cater to varying price points and skincare needs, ensuring continued demand across different consumer segments.

We majorly focused on strengthening our online presence and optimizing our e-commerce platforms to capitalize on the growing trend of online shopping and reduce reliance on traditional retail channels.

We also implemented targeted marketing campaigns to emphasize the value and effectiveness of our essential skincare products, resonating with consumers prioritizing self-care amidst economic uncertainty.

We also prioritized cost optimization initiatives and streamlined our supply chain to improve efficiency and reduce overhead costs. Finally, we invested in enhancing customer engagement through personalized experiences and loyalty programs, fostering brand loyalty, and encouraging repeat purchases.

Through these strategic initiatives, we successfully navigated economic fluctuations and maintained stability in a challenging market landscape.

Q

What is the one piece of advice you would like to offer to young entrepreneurs?

A

Focus on authenticity and customer satisfaction. Building a brand is not just about products; it’s about creating a genuine connection with your customers. Listen to their needs, deliver quality, and be transparent. Building trust is the foundation for long-term success in the beauty industry.
