CARRYING THE BEACON OF EDUCATION TOWARDS A SUPERIOR TOMORROW

"Higher education is a yardstick by which the progress of every nation is measured"

Shri Pawan Jain, Chairman, Mangalayatan University.

Mangalayatan symbolizes the ultimate resource that underlines well-being and prosperity stating "Learn Today to Lead Tomorrow".

The very concept ultimately speaks about providing quality education and also imbibes strength among students and teachers to go for raised bars in career progression. Today, Mangalayatan University (MU) has nearly 2000 students currently study at the University and more than 7000 students have completed their degree and diploma programs from the University.

The University feels privileged to provide holistic education to all classes of society. Ragging in any form is not permitted since inception. All the students live in hostels in harmony and participate in events. This University is a "Gurukul of Global Education". Here, everyone works towards a fine blend of values and global professional talents in the making of personalities that belong to the future. They believe deeply in the power of research. Indeed, as a University, one of the avowed goals is to carve a niche in the world of research and progressive thinking.

The word Mangalayatan is fashioned by the combination of two words; Mangal and Ayatan that refer to the Home (Place) that endows contentment and positive vibrations.

ADMINISTRATION, FACULTY, AND DEPARTMENTS

The organizational structure of the University is in accordance with the University Act. As per the Act, the University has The Court, The Executive and Academic Council, Planning Board, Finance Committee and Boards of Studies. All the statutory bodies and authorities are in place and fully active in running the University. The University runs effectively as per the above structure and the chains of a command followed for both upward and downward flow of information and instructions.

The University has three faculties and four institutes headed by Deans. The Faculty of Engineering & Sciences has the Institute of Engineering & Technology, Institute of Applied Sciences and University Polytechnic. The Faculty of Management & Commerce has the Institute of Business Management and the Department of Tourism & Hospitality Management. The University has an excellent strength of faculty members with enriched experience of teaching. Each Faculty and Institutes are headed by Deans/Directors respectively. The faculty is the backbone of any seat of higher learning.

The Faculty of Humanities comprises the Institute of Education & Research, Department of Visual & Performing Arts, Department of Journalism & Mass Communication and Centre for Philosophical Sciences. The Institutes of Legal Studies & Research, Institute of Bio-Medical Education & Research, School of Pharmacy and Institute of Nursing & Paramedical Sciences are four stand-alone institutes.

HAVING AN EDGE OVER COMPETITION

Mangalayatan is a research-oriented University and motivates students to look for research factors by preparing assignments, reports, and dissertations. The faculty comprises of senior research fellows and senior professors in the departments to encourage research-oriented practices. Professors who are employed at university remain busy in scheduled classes and are free to research their names, but their main job is to teach. One may not find such facilities at institutions next door.

Zero cases of any religion-related outbreak since 2007 being in a sensitive city like Aligarh represents the best examples of communal harmony. The students celebrate various national and religion-based festivals with zeal and togetherness.

The location of the university is strategically decided to be perfectly at the centre of Aligarh and Mathura so that the students may arrive in the morning and gain value-oriented education away from hassle and noise of main cities. The Campus is located near village Beswan, which has its historical importance from the times of Ramayana. The University is spread in 75 acres of lush green campus. The Greenery is something that the campus and students feel proud of. The student-teacher relationship here at Mangalayatan is more symbolic to ancient times.

SOCIAL INITIATIVES TAKEN

Mangalayatan University is based in a Semi-Urban Area of Aligarh (U.P.). The standard of living, literacy, and economic conditions of most of the nearby villages are not good. Since its establishment in 2007, University has undertaken pioneering steps for the promotion of social awareness and has organized several events entitled KADAM and PARIVARTAN.

The enthusiastic members are liaising with top-level functionaries of government agencies and NGOs to bring basic facilities like toilets, medical care, etc. to these neglected villages. The University encourages and supports the efforts to spread literacy to the less fortunate.

PLACEMENT CELL AND ITS FACETS

The University Training and Placement Cell is directly governed by the Registrar at the central level. Under TPC (Training and Placement Cell), all the Institutions are running their Placement & Training support cells. Another unit, the Career Advancement Cell (CAC) is working to supplement career-related training which is being governed by Director – CAC.

With these multi-facet training and placement services, the University's fine students are placed under various banners of National and International repute. The TPC also issues summer training letters, Semester training letters and relevant NOC's to employers and prospective employees (Students) at the central level to maintain records effectively. The departmental placement cells ensure the visit of industries/companies in accordance with the branch/department the student belongs to.

The team of Career Advancement provides students with a strong conceptual and practical framework to build, develop and manage teams.

They play an important role in the development of the students' overall personality, thereby enhancing their career prospects. The training provides strong practical orientation to the students and helps them in building and improving their skills in communication, the effective use of English, business correspondence, presentations, team building, leadership, time management, group discussions, interviews, and interpersonal skills. This training also helps students in career visioning and planning, effective resume writing and dealing with placement consultants and head-hunters.

The training is conducted in a very informal, interesting, and interactive manner, which gives ample scope for the students to interact with each other and face a wide variety of issues, topics, and situations that they are likely to come across as entry-level professionals.

STUDENT WELFARE

The University Students Activity Council is committed to giving exposure to the students for their physical, emotional, mental, social and spiritual development which ultimately contributes to the formation of wholesome personality traits of the students. Keeping this in mind M.U. Students Council is running and motivating the student's clubs viz., KADAM, PARIVARTAN, SADHNA and GRAVITA Technological Club.

FORECASTS FOR THE EDUCATION SECTOR

Learning is a continuous and never-ending process, there seems a slow, but change in methods of delivering education in India.

As the population of the Indian Sub-continent is increasing, the need for new schools, colleges and universities are also increasing. Hence, the future of any college/school/university lies in the hands of the choosers. Today's new generation wants rapid results in whatsoever they tend to do. For Instance, previously scholars were required to visit libraries and search for relevant text from hundreds of books. But now, the same is available in a few clicks on their computers/smartphones.

Studies suggest that the present scenario of education is more inclined to newer programs that have industry integrated approach. Students are more attracted to such courses these days. The future of the education sector can be seen limited to those who are exceptional in providing what students want (a guaranteed job) and also to some premier names of past were getting a degree is a mere formality and that too at very reasonable costs.

It's important that Quality of Teachers/Trainers should be ascertained over experience, not on degrees.

A teacher must have high research output and retention rates. Dr. APJ Abdul Kalam's initiative should be followed in educational institutes of classes beyond boundaries "Learn while you earn approach". Rewards to quality researches in the field of medicine, engineering, sciences, and social sciences and Financial and Non-Financial Motivation of teachers is also needed.

AWARDS AND RECOGNITIONS

The University has to its credit innumerable awards like Most Promising Engineering Institute Award in Uttar Pradesh (As Per Ranking 2019 of Jagran News Media), educational excellence and research award in 12th world education summit held in Delhi between 9 – 10 Aug 2018, Received Felicitation for Appreciation from Times group for excellence in the field of education, etc.

Down the line, a lot seems to be on the cards for Mangalayatan University, it looks forward to a hospital planned in the premises of the University to serve underprivileged people falling in the range of Aligarh and Mathura. University has plans to go green i.e. run on solar power in upcoming years and represent one of the best to harness and utilize renewable energy.

With an organization of the International level faculty-student Seminar/workshops in the new semester in place, they're looking forward to starting an in-house Journal of International repute. To adopt more villages that surround University for their development and initiate drives to spread awareness among people about the right to education, voting, STD's, importance of health and cleanliness, breakings social stigmas, etc.
