“You will be defined not just by what you achieve, but by how you survive.”
Sheryl Sandberg, COO, Facebook
Although the deadly COVID-19 outbreak of CoronaVirus Disease 2019 has highlights the year in which it was first identified in its name, its unprecedented and unfavourable impact created a trail of derailed businesses and economic crisis in the year 2020 and survival has become an important aspect of defining the status of most brands today.
Before the grinding halt of March 2020, supporting and catalysing women entrepreneurship was a topic gaining traction across the globe where many women-led start-ups and established brands in varied industries were able to achieve a steady stream of business deals and were looking for opportunities to scale the impact of their businesses.
In the wake of the pandemic and the restrictions on travel, many industries were scrutinized with a top to bottom pause on work. The pandemic was expected to turn back the clock on women entrepreneurship as it brutally affected many businesses.
However, like many economies, women leaders were able to showcase better results and achieve an incredible degree of outward success with their inner strength and leadership amidst the most difficult periods for the economies.
The past century remains the witness of the rise of women in uncommon roles while breaking the glass ceiling, and achieving the status of tremendously inspiring empowered leaders in various industries.
And in 2020, braving the storm in their way, women entrepreneurs across the country have delivered beyond the brick and mortar walls of their offices and reinforced their status as trail-blazers.
In the “Women Entrepreneurs Of The Year 2020” issue of The CEO Magazine, we have recognized women with strong characters, who, in their insightful interviews revealed their journeys, challenges, leader-team relations, work-life balance while ongoing lockdown, pure strength and passion with which they have sculpted their brands supervising varied aspects of what distinguishes their business from the rest, and adapted to the swift and comprehensive transformation of their respective industries with technology and innovation.
