COMBATING THE UN-FAIR IRONY OF COMMERCIALIZING BEAUTY STANDARDS FOR WOMEN

Women in India have diverse beauty standards which ironically is neither widely understood nor accepted. If you pick the most common form of judgment, it is the beauty pageant.

If you don’t look from an eagle eye, it’ll be hard for you to even differentiate between the whitewashed females out of a cosmetic box made to stand in a row for others to judge. They’re all decked up with the perfect skin tone, figure, poise, smile, glossy hair, posture, etc. it’s just saddening to see the country demeaning the beauty standards at great personal and social lengths making a woman feel depressed, vulnerable and less than other.

The pride for this country lies in the diverse nature it carries in its topography, culture, food, etc. it all comes back to the way we let it reflect our personality. Beauty for any woman cannot be restricted to a weighing scale or meager standards; this would not just limit the potential of appreciation but also send across a very wrong and demeaning message to the coming generations.

For the longest of years, women have combated these margins set by society and now they have had enough. Today women have not just gotten further enlightened but have also started to engage in adapting the changes sensibly, appreciating one another and standing strong for the sisters around the world. The demanding societal pressure has taken the female interface for a toll today and support of all nature makes one feel more confident and reassured.

Several factors have been responsible for making women today feel vulnerable and sad about themselves, they have been commoditized, judged based on their weight, demanded to maintain specific body shapes and accordingly valued and considered beautiful. The portrayal of women in media is the most exploited and ridiculous form that we see today. They unnecessary glamorization of an anorexic body sets unrealistic goals for young minds that put themselves across peer pressure and succumb to these hazardous demands. There have been a plethora of cases where young girls have gone into depression due to the lack of meeting the right body standards despite trying hard. The side effects are profound and saddening.

Even the weight loss industry has started to make money out of this by marketing their products by making promises of improving their lives by helping them shed weight. It is significant for a woman to understand that if her life has to get better it will even without having to fall in the trap of these evil marketing strategies. Popular clothing brands have used strategies like photo-shopping images to look unrealistically fair or slim and setting goals for a common woman that are hard to achieve and highly dangerous for health. Say for a woman who is predisposed genetically with an eating disorder would end up harming herself if she surrenders to dieting or extreme ways of weight loss. So many women every day suffer from depression, self-esteem problems, low confidence, avoiding socializing, anxiety, trauma, personal relationship problems, substance abuse and more because they never feel they are adequately meeting the right standards.

It is time now that we point to the elephant in the room, change the way media portrays a woman, work towards equalizing and respecting all natures of beauty standards. Starting from little steps, support the ones you feel are facing this crisis, help them focus on the accomplishments of their life and boost their self-esteem. A reminder of good qualities doesn’t hurt now and then. If you know someone who is dealing with anxiety disorders or eating issues, enroll them in therapy classes, help them join communities and meet new people who overcame this problem. This would not just boost their confidence but push them to feel more self-assured. Let them be sure if they extend a hand, you would be there for support by all means.

The women in this country have for long battled this alone, the parameters have affected them physically, emotionally, socially and what not. It has pushed them into fatal diseases with societal stereotypes tightening its clasp around their necks each day. But no iron maiden needs to wear the crown of this stereotypical barbed wire and judge her in the harshest of ways; the fruits of liberation have been tested and are being spread generously.

THE INEVITABLE ALLIANCE OF DIGITAL TECHNOLOGY AND LUXURY

The non-negotiable collaboration of technology and luxury has imposed a digital street naked and creative incorporation. Luxury has integrated with the digital platform in several ways and an e-commerce strategy for media is nothing less than an effort to progress in providing an overall online customer experience.

Luxury brands today have taken up brand marketing full throttle over the digital media landscape, several paths have been paved to make the experienced user-friendly in terms of content, surfing through the website, strategizing and placing products, using cookies, etc. Here are a few examples of how technology is making the online shopping experience everyone’s cup of tea;

  • Reminder Notifications: The first few steps of the ladder are to make sure that the application is downloaded by the prospective customers and the process has to be orchestrated to promote its full potential. Hence, the usage of push notifications is raging like wildfire; these notifications not just continually remind the customer of active events at it but will also tempt them with luring messages. And the best part is that these notifications can be segregated by the luxury brands according to the requirement of location, purchase, preference, history, searches, cookies, age, etc. to forward relevant messages to relevant people.
  • The surfeit of Data: There is no bracket to the amount of data that the marketing companies own and use to their benefit. The age we live in, access to data is a cakewalk, but the efficiency lies in comprehending how to use this data correctly. An efficient marketer would know how exactly to pick and choose the right audience from this digital Pandora’s Box. Today, several tools can be used by luxury brands to ensure the data is properly and fully consumed.
  • Artificial Intelligence: We haven’t yet reached to a point where there is an application for the brands and the retailers to check the right time and season for discounts or what kind of products are popular and ready to be introduced in the market, this process is still raw and is achieved through research and understanding of the fads. If a brand ends up taking the wrong guess, it would result in heavy losses or would probably end up with a dead stock or they would run out of the stock of a popular item.

The introduction of artificial intelligence in luxury brands will not just help the retailer in aligning products that match the demand but would also help them put on display what’s hot around the town and sell as much as the demand. Hospitality has also has been largely affected by the incorporation of artificial intelligence with opening its arms to bolder opportunities to enhance the experience. And talking about user experience, once online shopping has stepped up on the ladder of AI, it will all be about conversations. The customer would be able to talk to the application and present its demand and the application in return would find the perfect match for the customer in a matter of a few seconds.

  • Message Pop-ups: Many innovative companies in luxury brands have availed the advantage of the perks offered by IM (Instant Message). These are easy, quick and the best way of communicating a message directly to the consumer. Today there are a few companies in the market that offer these services allowing the customers to stay in connection with their doctors, lawyers, stylists, teachers, etc. through their mobiles free of cost. These messages help the customer in reaching the concerned individual instantly and get any nature of the information they are looking for right from their comfort bubble.
  • Internet of Things: This technology has transformed the picture of luxury brands on the digital platform; it has bought in the landscape an authentication system and security codes. You can have digital shopping bags without having to roam around and carry any, and all of these are safely locked with passwords. So now instead of roaming around from one store to another, you can have it all on your fingertips, it’s secure, time saving and hassle-free.

Luxury brands today have amplified their interest in the role of digital technology. The innovation and creativity that has incorporated into this practice are impressive and highly fruitful. The luxury brands industry will in the coming years witness fresh ideas, additionally useful services and implementation of user-friendly practices.

TRENDS THAT WILL SHAPE THE FUTURE OF SMART CITIES IN 2020

In the coming year, from advanced payment options to mobility offerings, the world will witness significant revamps. With a few months left to the New Year, as we swiftly move towards the shaping if smart city trends in 2020, we are vaulted to face the pleasant bloom.

It has been estimated by popular studies that by the year 2050, more than 70% of the world population would migrate to an urban way of life and settle in areas that are powered and interconnected by smart technologies. The investment on IoT is the largest from the Asian region and the swiftly emerging technologies are only taking us closer to the evolution of smarter cities.

In the coming years, the government will as well become swift in responding to the needs of the citizens and smart city applications will further enrich the lives of the residents. From generating revenues to security and convenience, the applications introduced in the smart cities will completely alter the way we operate, live and work, but the ground of it all starts with connectivity, everything will have to be interconnected, vehicles, homes, appliances, infrastructures, systems, etc.

Several essential business sectors are actively moving towards the booming trajectory of artificial intelligence and re-evaluating their business models of connectivity accordingly. So, to help you mentally prepare for the modifications, here is a list of trends that would be expected to massively influence the space of smart cities in 2020;

PLANNING FOR THE FUTURE

From the traditional front of it, companies today already are building infrastructures that come equipped with applications like sensors, security cameras, smart lighting, etc. but in the coming year, the view will change for basic infrastructure as well to support the idea of a smarter city.  To make the picture further clearer, let’s say if the infrastructure is installed with security cameras or lighting without the basic connectivity of fibre, it would only make the process painful in the future. The cost massively would amplify for upgrading the basic process to be able to connect to the technology modifications like face or voice recognition etc.

So to avoid this extra investment, the builders today are constructing cities that are already upgraded for the networks in the future by constantly updating themselves on the changing trends taking advice from IoT vendors and working on a long term plan for smarted cities in the future.

FINANCIAL PLANNING

In several countries today, the government is largely supporting the mandate of extensive fibre build-outs. There are developers, local utilities and service providers that are working on the deployment of the infrastructure that facilitates the planning and permissions for constructions of civic connectivity. Business houses who are solely into the services of providing electrical utilities have also started to maintain their position on deploying fibre infrastructure in the constructions and given the fact that they have the experience that it needs to install these delicate connectivity means, they have their way to manage the overhead poles and underground wiring systems that can make room for the new technology and deploy it to cut down on the prospects of the amplified investments.

RENDEZVOUS OF NETWORK

Network convergence offers numerous flexible and convenient modes of communication on one network that is impossible to achieve on infrastructures that operate separately. The future promises the delivery of high-speed digital data from a processing source by the support of broadband or high bandwidth network to a distribution system that is wireless and overturns for up streaming.

In the early days, the service providers would build wire-line and wireless networking systems. The infrastructure for the wireless systems have turned more centralized and it is only sensible to arrange the traffic in one direction of the wire-line services. The service providers today are aggressively working towards these wire-line and wireless operating systems for the future to amplify the utilization of the assets and modelling excellent business plans for 2020.

The future will see maximum cities around the world transforming into a smart infrastructure jungle. The need for implementation of smart city applications exists for its improvement in cost, efficiency, revenue and above all betterment of the people of any country. By the process of thinking ahead, making constructive plans for the future, fibre operating systems, converging of networks around the town, and using the creative funding approach, the cities will transform on the route to becoming smart in the forthcoming years.

How A Professional Financial Consultant Can Direct Your Business Growth?

India is one of the largest economies in the world and one of the most prominent markets for start-ups and businesses. While manufacturing, banking, steel, investment, retail, pharma, infrastructure, agriculture, engineering, and telecommunications are the top industries in India, finance is the core of all of these. Hence, it has become important to create a structure and understand the system for handling such a huge amount of money received from diverse sources.

A financial consultant acts as a financial guru to ensure that your business is fit to be able to survive the tough competition and inconsistent market. Let’s understand how a financial consultant can direct your business growth and further how it can prevent your business from turbulence especially in the Indian current situation.

  1. A base to analyze growth: A financial consultant is a professional who works on future financial goals and assists an individual or a company with their financial advices. The advices by such experts are generally on topics such as tax and insurance decisions. These experts create a financial plan to ensure a standard to analyze the growth of any business.
  2. Strategies towards growth: Financial consultants are the most important assets for any firm. Their ideas, research, and goals help to comply with a business overall success and growth. A financial consultant brings his entrepreneurial point of view encouraging growth for a business. He constantly works toward formulating strategies that helps a business connect better with ample growth opportunities in the marketplace.
  3. Help you make a suitable choice: There are various decisions that are part of working of an institute. While decision making requires a certain amount of authority, it also requires a sound understanding of on-field data. A CEO or CFO might not be able to keep up each and every change that is happening in the market and hence a financial consultant is important. A specialist like him/her guides a business with logical investment decision making, which yields the business great results efficiently and helps the business grow at a consistent pace in the long run.
  4. Conviction in decisions: Each business aspires to be the best in the industry and hence a professional in finance is important to be on the team. A financial advisor brings to the table his years of experience along with his research tools and techniques. He works in an effective way and follows a specific process which ensures decisions taken with sense of conviction. The process a financial consultant follows is detailed. It includes gathering information, assessing financial risks, analyzing investment surplus and creating realistic goals and portfolio to help a business reach its financial goals.
  5. Financial Stability: While the markets get into a turbulent position, a professional business financial consultant encourages remaining a focused investor. He will guide a business to achieve its goal besides the turbulence in the market. Being a professional, he tends to not get restricted with the emotions and stay calm in challenging financial situations. The logical and unemotional nature helps a business get better financial stability in its investments.
  6. Environmental Stability: Financial consultants work with the day to day activities of the business, managing the revenues and expenses. He works swiftly with the ever-changing and inconsistent financial, legal and competitive environment. While desiring to achieve any specific goal, a business might suffer from the situational changes stated above, but with sound planning and implementation, it can remain on its position or grow better.

Let’s understand this in the light of India’s current situation related to tax and investment. Recently, Union Budget 2019 has presented some conditions that financial consultants tend to share their opinions on. While the Government of India concerns deficit, the financial consultant’s advice will help you make the best decision.

Tax: While agreeing with the financial conditions of the country, ITR filling is one of the options that a professional financial consultant would advise businesses. Small companies, start-ups or businesses in unorganized sectors usually find ITR filling process difficult to understand or lack the resources to fill their income. Budget 2019 has made sure that the second reason is avoided as Aadhar card number, a common identity number for citizens of India can now be used instead of PAN card number.

Share Market: Share market has experience as great turbulence due to the Union budget which affected various stocks and its prices. From Buyback rates to import and export policies, the inconsistent prices of stocks have showcased a solid need for a professional financial consultant for various industries.

Conclusion:

Laws will update and impact the world economy with legal, financial and other turbulences. None of these situations can be avoided but with the guidance of a professional financial consultant, the growth of your business can be directed smoothly.

TRENDS THAT ARE TRANSFORMING THE FACE OF THE RECRUITMENT INDUSTRY

For quite several years the recruiters have successfully been in control of the complete process of hiring holding the industry on a static. The process was straight, you post a vacancy on an advertisement, take multiple interviews, identify and shortlist the candidates, negotiate a bit and done.

But the scenario took a ‘Tokyo Drift’ in the mid-90s when online job portals were introduced in the picture while the recruitment process was on the parallel idling. Earlier the hiring processes were sold in packages and they were priced at quite a lot, the crude system at infancy was sucking out a decent capital.

With the advent of advanced technology in the early 2000s, more advancement came in the favour of the candidates and many recruiters from the industry realized that selling the process at such high rates is not going to help in the long run, hence came the change. And fast forward to the present scenario, the industry has massively transformed and scene changes at a major level. Several trends have taken over the industry in the recent few years; here are a few to take a tour of;

Technical skills: Even if you feel that there is no shortage of skills in your industry, don’t assume that t won’t ever happen. The pace at which the technology has advanced in the past years, data analytics, big data, and IoT is being embraced by all. A survey has estimated that in the future the workforce will be assigned to more than 50% of jobs that do not even exist in the current scenario. So turn into a specialist and keep abreast with the changes and the upcoming trends.

The Workforce: The internet has bought a revolution in the mindset of the candidate and the employee. People today are no more just interested in the payroll that the company has on offer; they are looking for a lot more in terms of additional perks. Just a satisfactory job description does not weave the magic anymore; a decent salary package also has become an age-old trend. If your company is looking to make an offer to a deserving candidate, there is a high chance they would be willing to know what else your company can offer. The best thing to do is to make way for new recruitment strategies and understand the best ways to sell the vacancy to a potential candidate.

The candidate: It’s not just about just the recruitment anymore; the candidate has become a larger part of the picture as well. The focus has shifted from what the company wanted to what the company and the candidate both want. The one who applied for your job is well aware of this process now and keeps the demands accordingly. If the recruitment process you handle is not enough efficient, or your behaviour is lousy towards the candidate or you’re not actively willing to participate in the process with the applicant, it will impact your success rate immensely and you will start to lose the faith of the applicant. There is a chance that the candidate might also leave feedback for your services over the websites that provide these company feedbacks and you would not want to spoil the image of your company. So, before you lose the faith of your candidates overnight, turn more focused on their needs. Train your staff accordingly and help them understand the value of this focus.

Team Work: The battle of recruitment cannot be fought alone; you would need a skillful team for that. It’s a terrible idea to manage the entire process on your own, it will only hassle the situation and chances are you might miss out on the important details. After facing major pitfalls, many flourishing brands have realized how it is a bad idea to try becoming a jack of all trades and master of none. To avoid early fallouts, you can opt for collaborative hiring, which today has become the norm for hiring teams to come together and work.

The role of the recruiter today has dived into a complete shape shift. Short term approaches have gone out of the window and now it’s more about a larger perspective and a long term relationship. Today recruiters cannot just provide a candidate and move on from the responsibility, they offer several refinement skills, training, and more. Today recruiters collaborate with companies to provide a candidate with long-lasting employee tenure and skilled and talented assets.

THE BIG BANG THEORY OF THE ‘INTERNET OF THINGS’

“If you think that the internet has changed your life, think again. The Internet of Things is about to change it all over again!” Brendan O’Brien

Each time one comes across this term of ‘Internet of Things’, it raises a number of perplexing reactions, vague guesses and radical.

How many of us have ever tried to figure out the existence of new things, nothing appears magically, but more often than not are a result of meandering steps in the process of a butterfly effect. Certain events take place as planned and certain reroute and reach to a dimension of a new and larger perspective, opening doors to a technological breakthrough.

‘Internet of things’ is one such breakthrough, so what is IoT, how does it impact you or where did it all start from, without diving into the deeply complicated threads of it, let’s understand the basics simply first.

So let’s say for starters, even while you are reading this post, you are connected with the internet through your tablet, phone or desktop and this is a luxury that didn’t exist till a few years ago. Well, this exactly is what the ‘Internet of things’ means, connecting all possible devices to the internet.

It all started in the 1980s and 1990s when the idea of adding intelligence and sensors to everyday objects came on the table; in fact, some arguments take it even earlier. Earlier though the progress rate was so slow for several projects because the technology still hadn’t advanced enough.

The idea for beginning this IoT partly also came from the technology dependent on radio frequencies which connected several devices, bit gradually the notion changed and IP networking took over which presently allows devices to exchange information. One of the first examples of IoT developing in the early 80s was by the company Coca Cola in Carnegie Melon University where they had installed a refrigerated appliance that was connected to the internet and was operated by the local programmers.

The developments kept taking place over the years but a breakthrough came in 2000 when the IoT industry hit its first substantial milestone with LG introduced the world’s first refrigerator connected to the internet, the Internet Digital DIOS. A number of developments further took place over the year and it was only amazing how swiftly the transformations were happening. Later in 2008 came another big break when IPSO Alliance formed a partnership among industry partners to promote connectivity for devices.

When you look at the absolute scenario, it is a happy realisation that strikes encouraging the fact that the world is only changing for better and more comfort. But you’ll be surprised to know that ‘Internet of Things’ was not always the apple of the eye in the realm of electronics, it was only n the recent years that it witnessed this modern incorporation. In fact today the vertical has crossed a plethora of barriers and intercourse itself into our daily loves immensely. From our televisions, to our security systems, everything is interconnected. The rapid change since 2000 has been only a marvel to look at.

The capabilities of the network expansion have amplified; we live in an innovative era where the building of a new standard or encompassing the data analytics tools has pushed the need for internet connectivity to the top.

But the evolution didn’t stop there, in 2013; IoT became all the more dominant and obvious because of its evolution using multiple technologies at once and otherwise. the complete automation of buildings and homes, the ideas of smart city, wireless networks, GPS, control systems and more, all these things further cement the growing concept of IoT. The time doesn’t seem too far in the future when all the things that humans can do would be possible with modern technologies and IoT, we already have achieved the status of Robots that efficiently have mirrored us immensely.

‘Internet of Things’ is transforming the world at a rapid pace and shows the picture of a promising tomorrow with a number of creative bends incorporated to it. The chances are high that soon we would be living in a space where you may not have to move an inch to know whose’ ringing your bell, and if you want to open the door or not, you may even be able to talk to them sitting from wherever you are at that moment. Everything will be connected to your Smartphone, even the front doors of your house. Also, how great would it be to wake up to a nice cup of your favourite beverage, because your alarm clock is connected to your beverage machine and signals it when it’s time for you to wake up or owning a watch that tracks your work efficiency and gives you a report each evening, such a fancy life. These small-big amenities and comforts aren’t too far, IoT it effectively going to make lives simpler and convenient.

Effortlessness and comfort are the key elements that IoT has managed to successfully provide and is only moving ahead for more. All it needs is access to all your devices and interconnect them efficiently to make your life less of a hassle. This age of technologically driven generation seems exciting, promising and full of new mind-blowing innovations built with creative ideas and expertise.

Marketing drives results with a focus on problems

When most of us come across the term “marketing” we quickly term it a manoeuvre to sell any product. We engender this notion of being fooled be it in the real world while coming across any salesperson or while accessing TV, radio or any other means of mass communication. When we watch any commercial advertisement we tend to be in the impression that whatever is being shown is just a fiction and resembles no truth. More or less, there’s nothing wrong in this notion. Since our childhood, we have been made to believe that marketing means misleading advertisements. Customers are not to be blamed for this malaise.

We have to understand the authenticated and actual meaning of marketing. Marketing is a tool which helps a company focus sharply on the challenges faced by a client. The company helps its clients overcome those challenges by means of marketing. Instead of focusing on the products and services when company tend to seek a solution with the help of those tools then it can be termed proper marketing. In this way, we observe that focus shifts to the customer. Every customer wants a proper solution to his problems and marketing can prove to be a pathfinder if done effectively. Through effective marketing company can work among the target audiences and it can persuade the customer for taking its services. Companies just need to address that they will prove to be the solution seeker for the customer’s problems. Marketing is a kind of emotional connection where the company tries to coax the customer that a particular product will be helpful for the customer in long term. Companies also need to generate a trust that the product is worth buying for such and such features. But features need to be described only after proper persuasion is done. The ultimate goal should be not to look like a seller rather look like a solution-seeker.

There can be some creative approach to marketing. Companies can organize some kind of activity where a customer is given a live demo about their products and how it can help customers. We get to see such instances in our daily life. Companies need to focus on productive ways to deliver customer-oriented services. They can do this by knowing the needs of customer’s day to day problems and how their products can prove to be beneficial for them. Instead of paying heavy amounts to celebrities for promoting their products they can give a free demo of their services in some influential places where companies brand value is still not better. This way they can prove their mettle by means of working among people. When someone tries to create his goodwill he is supposed to create a base for that. What can be better than this for creating a strong base and which can ultimately lead to good mouth publicity? We can conclude that marketing has the potential to bring forth better results than advertisements with focus on customer’s problems.
