SAUDI MARKET RESEARCH, AN E-PLATFORM DELIVERING RESEARCH SOLUTIONS BACKBONE TO MANY SUCCESSFUL ORGANISATIONS

“The idea of the business coined while working in the investments and strategy domain for a Middle East-based firm. As I discovered the passion for research and business advisory engagements; and the immense market potential Saudi has for the next decade or so. Making it the best investment market globally.” visionary behind one-stop shop market research platform, Avishkar Anand

Avishkar Anand and his brand in the Market Research & Business Advisory Industry depicts the classic entrepreneurial journey. As a professional in the industry turned leader; Co-founder and CEO of Saudi Market Research have built a market research ecosystem. That offering not only studies on different sectors in the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia; but also focusing on customised business advisory services.

As the Kingdom has been an oil-based economy for long; it is witnessing a transformation with recent diversification programs under the aegis of Vision 2030. And opening doors for the mainstream sectors as well as the allied businesses, especially the MSMEs, it has become the one of the most favourable market for investment at the global stage and a competitive one too.

Saudi Market Research or SMR comes into the picture here as they help business owners and budding entrepreneurs. With the most recent updates on the market covering all the aspects; that are relevant to the business by the Saudi Market Research’s team; of industry analysts and experts based out of Saudi Arabia, UAE and India.

HIGH QUALITY CUSTOMISED SOLUTIONS

Delivering high-quality market research reports covering granular insights from the market. That are suited to the clients’ needs, they offer competitive analysis, feasibility study, business and financial modelling, business presentations; analysing the demand and supply metrics, on-demand and customised services.

Offering assistance to all those in need for basic research on a sector for evaluating the opportunity or to outsource any kind of research and consulting work, Saudi Market Research analysts work on a temporary or ad-hoc basis on the one-stop solution platform.

The team of full-time analysts make the brand distinct from their competitors. As they cater to micro-details in the business as well as round the clock availability to meet urgent requirements of the clients.

THE NAME AND JOURNEY FROM THE CEO’S DESK

“Saudi Market Research is the name that we came up after deciding to enter the market. As it signifies the business and its focus market along with being an easy-to-adapt name; for the general market to relate and reciprocate with.

In roles of Co-founder and the Chief Executive Officer of the company, I started the company in early 2019. Backed by investors and ivy league senior corporate professionals, working in the Middle East for decades”

“We have identified and curated solutions for a big segment in the market; consisting of first-time investors, entrepreneurs and family offices. Who want quick insights into business sectors without spending a lot of money. The SMR team is focused on offering similar Ad hoc services at a similar cost to those of other freelancing websites. However with taking the accountability of the final output.

Additionally, with a robust body of work on Saudi on our website, clients are in a much better position to gauge our capabilities and quality of work,” shared the man himself on the journey and solutions crafted.

TAKING THE ROAD LESS TRAVELLED

All entrepreneurial journeys are expected to be a roller coaster. Avishkar knew theirs was going to be no different. He firmly believes in taking the road less travelled and they took a conscious call to work and create a significant body of work, even before the launch of the business.

He and his team entered the market on the back of significant research work and intelligence available with them from the start. “I knew that this would go a long way in catching the eyeballs and gaining traction in the market,” he shared.

“While business development and getting the first few clients was a major challenge, it was sorted out with digital evolution that happened in the last decade as social media and other tech tools have given entrepreneurs like us a powerful marketing platform “.

Another challenge that they faced was to optimise the cost structure, with need to have resources on the ground in Saudi Arabia, but at the same time being cognizant of the costs involved.

They have a very balanced resource allocation and cost structure, which takes advantage of the reasonably priced man-hours in India and yet at the same time, giving the brand the ability to have resources in Saudi to carry out primary research.

IDENTIFYING AND OFFERING TO THE TARGET AUDIENCE

Headquartered in Saudi Arabia, the prime focus for this growth-boosting website remains the Saudi Arabian market. The brand’s well-outlined target audience is on the receiving end of the right set of services to offer which were considering all the dynamics that can be attached to it.

The team has deployed their researching efforts on investments creating a matrix that defined their target segment where they wanted to pitch themselves. The basic idea that lay beneath this approach is to offer a solution to those who aim to invest and need to have an industry overview.

INDUSTRY TRANSFORMATION & TRENDS

The industry has witnessed evolution over the years. The paradigm shift from large consulting firms would provide the market insights earlier to many players in the market today who have created their own space with the digital support with an audience accustomed to getting their business done online. The digital presence has taken precedence over the physical one.

“So, as much as quality work matters today, the presence to solve the customer queries on the go, and understand their requirements in the easiest possible way has changed. This is one way to look at it, while another one is the global changing business scenario opening themselves for investors has extended the need to look at new geographies and realize the untapped potential. This has also drawn attention from analysts and firms to keep a continuous watch over the happenings in the market,” shared Avishkar Anand.

He added, “If we talk about specific trends, I believe that big data analytics is going to be the major influencer in the next couple of years. Data has become the new asset these days. With the help of large sets of data and further analytics applied to it; it will give more transparent results than ever. This is going to extend the question of ‘what to cover’ to ‘how to cover’ and why to ‘cover’. Insights are going to be more fine-tuned than ever.

VISIONARY’S BUSINESS MODEL FOR SUCCESS

SMR’s business model is focused on catering the needs of the MSMEs, individual investors, budding entrepreneurs and family offices and produce results on demand and urgent basis.

While the micro-business sectors are generally not covered by large scale consulting, research houses and brokerage houses. Saudi Market Research is a platform to bridge the gap between a potential investor and the sector.

The business provides reports that are a combination of extensive secondary research. As well as primary research conducted on the ground in Saudi Arabia. With helpful details on size, competition, pricing, margins, latest updates, barriers to entry; and a lot of other details required to evaluate one sector.

ACHIEVEMENTS AND CORE VALUES STRENGTHENING BUSINESS

“I am extremely pleased as to how the business has shaped in the last one year. We have one of the largest research works on the website and we are working with some very interesting clients. Having said that, we also have plans to expand into other verticals including education and legal research; to extend the core preposition of Saudi Market Research,” emphasised Avishkar Anand

The SMR team has always worked with a very simple value proposition; i.e. deliver the quality comparable to a top-notch research firm, at a much lower cost. Additionally, they serve the market segments which cannot engage top research firms like first-time investors, entrepreneurs and family offices.

INSIGHT ON TECHNOLOGY IN COVID-19 CRISES

“Technology has played a crucial role in doing many things that are being done in the current crisis. It has provided a cushion for many businesses, avoiding them from catastrophic damage. I robustly believe that, from people staying indoors who have assorted themselves to OTT platforms; to the shift of “work from home” usage from urgency cases to normalcy to online education. Alongside other efforts and assets, technology has made us keep going even though it is at a slower pace.”

“Similarly, I see technology changing the consulting space as well. And the conventional brick and mortar consulting firms giving way to e-consulting firms. With access to flexible international manpower and ability to service global clients” shared Avishkar Anand.

Vijay Shekhar Sharma Success Story

Pulkit Sharma || The CEO Magazine

Paytm is one application which is available is almost everyone’s smartphone now-a-days. It is one of the biggest companies in India but most of us don’t know the real struggle and efforts putted by Vijay Shekhar Sharma who founded Paytm. He had begun with Rs. 10 in his pocket and now he is the owner and CEO of a $3 billion company.

Early Life

Vijay Shekhar Sharma was born in a middle class family in Aligarh. He was a very bright student because his father was a school teacher and has some high values when it comes to education. He completed his schooling at a young age of 14 from a Hindi medium school therefore it was difficult for him to write and read English. Soon he realizes that to get admission in a good college it is important to know Basic English.

He didn’t look at this as his weakness but he took it as a challenge and begun to learn English by reading old magazines and borrowing books from his friends. He used to take two books at a time, one book of English sentences and second book for its translation. When he got admission in an engineering college in Delhi this bright student start turning into average student and soon his grades began to decline. He completely stopped going to college after few months of admission. Soon he started losing interest in engineering and developed an interest in entrepreneurship.

 Passion for Entrepreneurship

He was hugely inspired by Yahoo so he wanted to study at Stanford University where it was built, but due to lack of money and his bad English stopped him for getting in there. When most of the college students were dreaming of their placements, Vijay along with his friends created a CMS (content management company) and they named it XS Communications. Their CMS was used by many major publications like The Indian Express.

While trying to get funds for his company he borrowed Rs. 8 lakhs from bank with an interest of 24 percent. Due to this he was trapped in the vicious circle of unplayable debt. This forced him to take odd jobs to pay off his debts.

The success of Paytm

His success was made possible because of his hard work, patience and will to succeed. Things were hard when he launched One97 which is the parent company of Paytm but later things begin to settle. For Paytm he didn’t ask for any fund instead he raises $2 million all by himself.

True success of company comes when they start offering internet wallet service, 24 x 7 customer care services and all this developed trust among their customers. The idea of Paytm required trust of their customers and Vijay won it with excellent customer support.

Story of Vijay Shekhar Sharma proves that you can achieve anything if you are determined and follow your passion. Life will give you opportunities; it is on you how you take this opportunity. Always follow your passion and take risks in life.

Ritesh Agarwal Success story

Pulkit Sharma || The CEO Magazine

The success journey of Ritesh Agarwal from a dropout to a billionaire is quite inspirational. Ritesh Agarwal a 25-year-old billionaire from India is the founder and CEO of the world’s most affordable hotel chain, OYO. He started his journey at the age of 20 with a vision of creating a solution for people looking for affordable hotels around the globe and he is on the path of success to achieve his goal.

How Ritesh Agarwal started OYO

Ritesh was a tech freak from a very young age as he started coding when he was just 10 years old. Another of his passion was to travel around the world. While he travels across India, he realizes that there is a need for affordable hotels which provides decent services in India. The affordable hotels do not provide necessary services such as AC, Wi-Fi, comfortable beds and breakfast facilities.

This gave him a hunch to do something to solve this problem so he combined his love for travel with his obsession with technology to make something useful. It was difficult for him at the beginning as he does not know anything about entrepreneurship but as he developed his plan and showed it to some investors he received a funding of $100,000 which helped him to kick start his entrepreneurial journey.

First Initiative

Entrepreneurship is not a destination, its journey where one has to keep on learning and improving their knowledge and skill set. Ritesh started his journey by launching Oravel Stays, which helped people to locate and book affordable hotels near them. This directory of affordable hotels was helping travellers to find pocket-friendly hotels but it was not serving the purpose for which Ritesh started this company.

Soon he realizes that to solve this problem he needs to have an in-depth research about the hospitality services so he began to travel across India and visited almost hundreds of hotels. After all this, he found that the major problems in the hospitality industry are their non-standard services and unpredictability so he decided to solve these problems with the help of OYO.

Concept of OYO

Many people don’t know that “OYO stands for On Your Own”. Ritesh then updated his old business model and converted it into a much better one which is now known to everyone as OYO hotels. They start providing affordable rooms with standard facilities in more than 1000 hotels across India and OYO doesn’t own any of those hotels. This concept made Ritesh Agarwal a billionaire at the age of 23.

Lessons to be learned from this story

  • Find a major problem and think about how you can solve it
  • Value your knowledge
  • Keep on learning about your favourite field and became an expert in it.
  • Ability to accept your mistakes and improving future
  • Hard work and patience is really important to succeed

Ritesh Agarwal is a true inspirational story for every Indian boy who wants to achieve something great in her/his life. His unique thinking and ability to solve problems made him the youngest billionaire in India

Success story of Rahul Anand and Rajat Tuli – Founder of Happily Unmarried

There is no success without hardships. Most of the business ideas are successful because they solve some kind of problem faced by public but there are not many businesses that are successful just because they are cool like Instagram and Facebook.

Another fun kind of business is Happily Unmarried which was launch by two friends, Rahul Anand, and Rajat Tuli.

About Happily Unmarried

Happily unmarried is an Indian lifestyle brand which is widely known for its unique products and targets Indian audience. Their categories include travel, office, stationery, glassware, apparels and many more. One thing which sets them apart from other companies is their witty words on their products which are picked up from the daily life of an Indian. These products are sold on various platforms including both offline and online.

How It Started and Their Initial Years

With the arrival of dot com in the early 2000s, they were fired from their company. Due to this experience, they realized that there is no job security so Instead, of searching for a new job, they decided to start their own business. The first hurdle which came their way was the lack of funds because to start any business you need to have some capital. They sold the laptop which they had received from the company they used to work for and raised around Rs. 50,000 and started the company.

Just like any other business, they also faced problems in building a brand name. Soon they realized that it is not that easy to start a company as it seems to be. In the initial years, they rarely have any profit; they felt like quitting and get back to a normal job, all the work was on their heads as they were unable to hire full-time employees. This was making them frustrated and tired.

To keep up with the expenses, they didn’t draw their salaries for several months. Later they realized that their customers who purchased their products are not returning because they were not known in the market at that time, keeping this in mind they used to visit their friend’s offices and showcases their products during their lunchtime. Having catchy and creative words written on them, they immediately grab everyone’s attention.

Their initial target was to make products that everyone can relate with and to build a loyal customer base.

Big Change

Their first big client was a person from the National Geographic channel who wanted them to supply corporate items at their office.  This is the first big success for them and they used this money to launch a wide range of products. After this they kept on rising and were on the next level, they started organizing events and sold their products there as well and soon they were making a huge amount of profits.

Market Competition

Even after they got a boost to their business, it was not easy for them to rise to the top. As they were growing, more and more challenges were coming in their way. A company faces an inevitable competition from the market and the same was the case with Happily Unmarried as companies like Chumbak and Quirk Box were also launched.

But the founders, Rahul Anand, and Rajat Tuli believe that it is good to have competition because it helps you to keep up on your toes. They also believed that with the range of products the company is offering and their loyal customer base will make all the difference in the coming years.

Radware India: Functioning to bolster the cyber defense

One of the most pressing and complex challenges faced by the IT organizations is the ever-evolving issue of cybersecurity. With a rapid increase in cybercrime, it has become a strenuous task to stop a highly-determined attacker from targeting a network, but with a sharp focus on cyber hygiene, we can make our organization extremely difficult to penetrate. It’s eye-watering to witness that many companies storing extremely high volumes of sensitive data, consider security as a sideline for the IT department. Understanding and management is a struggle that most organizations face. However, few cybersecurity solution providers like Radware has recognized the cyber threat as creating opportunities only with a pro-active strategic plan to tackle the crime.

Radware is a global leader in integrated application delivery and cyber security solutions for virtual, cloud and software-defined data centers. Their award-winning solution portfolio delivers service level assurance for business-critical applications while maximizing IT efficiency. Radware’s solutions empower more than 10,000 enterprise and carrier customers worldwide to adapt to market challenges, maintain business continuity and achieve maximum productivity while keeping costs down.

With the advent of technological innovation at full tilt, businesses faced many challenges that demanded them to upsize, downsize or relocate to meet the needs of their market efficiently. Radware didn’t take much time to be delineating itself as a major player offering a broad spectrum of solutions including Application Delivery, Application Performance, Virtualization, Private/Hybrid Cloud, Web Application Security, SSL Attack Protection, DDoS Protection and Attack Mitigation Solutions in addition to Cloud WAF Service, Cloud Web Acceleration Service, Cloud DDoS Protection Service and Cloud Malware Protection Service.

Came into operation in 1996, with Corporate Headquarters located in Mahwah, New Jersey and International headquarters in Tel Aviv, Israel, Radware was way ahead of its competitors in the period when India Operation (2002) was started by offering layer four & seven solutions and advanced technologies to its customers while other companies were still offering solutions of layer three.

Promise of Excellence

Radware attempts to tackle some of the most critical IT issues of its customers by ensuring full-time availability of infrastructure. The company’s strategic objectives provide security that includes Attack Mitigation, DDoS, WAF, IPS on-premise and enable Application Delivery Controllers including both cloud-based and virtualized App switches. In other words, it addresses all the elements which lead to applications availability and performance by remaining secure.

Towards ramping up security offerings, Radware has launched local scrubbing center in India which promises to act as centralized data cleansing station to analyze and remove malicious traffic. A new line of Alteon D-line of ADC appliances and software with industry-leading SSL performance is also designed to address evolving market challenges around the increase in encrypted traffic, encrypted attacks and malware, and the growing needs for data center automation.

Radware has developed a holistic strategy to enable carriers, large enterprises, and e-commerce networks to become smarter, more programmable, flexible and cost-effective to be able to address and mitigate threats in the future. The company is also looking at catering to the increasing cloud services in the country. With its cloud DDoS and cloud WAF solutions, it seeks to enter new segments while keeping its primary focus on large enterprises.

Despite some serious sluggish market conditions in the country, Radware India has been recording consistent increased growth rate since 2015.

Market Differentiator and Revenue Model of Radware

Incepted with a brilliant portfolio, Radware India has made an entrance into the industry bringing to the clients’ table a complete ecosystem for their growth through its unique platform. With more than fifteen years of expertise in DDOS mitigation solution, Radware is the only OEM with a much advanced and mature technology which offers fully managed, single vendor hybrid solutions that interoperate seamlessly by eliminating latency and connectivity issues and offers most comprehensive on-premise and cloud protection against volumetric attacks. Radware leads the industry with its unified management and orchestration framework for ADC and security technologies. It is one of the first vendors to launch virtualized or specialized DDoS solution.

Radware’s solutions are organized in a way that they can detect as well as mitigate attacks. The Company successfully handles mitigation both on stateful devices and on cloud, thereby, eliminating traffic threshold issues. While most competitors use rate-based attack detection which is prone to false positives and blocking legitimate traffic, Radware’s real-time signature development and advanced response ensure that legitimate traffic is unaffected and latency for legitimate users is minimized. The use of adaptive self-learning automatically applies counter-measures to block threats.

Most of the companies in this industry have almost zero protection against zero-day or zero-minute attacks and lack a real-time signature development capability. Such companies often end up supporting fewer than a hundred signatures but Radware has made a mark in the industry by creating and deploying custom signatures within 18 seconds without the need for human intervention and filters malicious traffic from legitimate traffic, even from the same IP.

Radware makes room for the good instead of increasing the internet bandwidth which lets bad traffic still get through. Its solutions offer protection at the perimeter level and use adaptive self-learning to configure and maintain thresholds instead of relying heavily on manual tuning and threshold adjustments. Radware is a champion in detecting SSL attacks and protecting Low and Slow attacks, blocks legitimate user traffic with an Emergency Response Team. All these salient features collectively make it stand ahead of the curve when it comes to competitors with the same offerings.

The company enables better TCO & ROI to organizations by offering most comprehensive security solutions as compared to any other OEM in the segment and has a fully-managed 24/7 service wing manned by ERT security experts who detect and mitigate threats in the shortest possible time.

Crafting a Branding Service

In the journey of around 20 years, the company has successfully built a magnificent and diverse clientele in almost every vertical of the country including large Government Departments. Apart from Nepal Telecom and Sri Lanka Telecom in SAARC region, its clientele boosts of names like SBI, LIC, Bombay Stock Exchange, HDFC, Vijaya Bank, Aditya Birla Group, Maruti Suzuki, Ranbaxy, Sun Pharma, Honda, Bajaj, Godrej, GAIL, IOCL, ONGC, Airtel, Vodafone, Idea, TCL, Reliance, BSNL, MTNL, RBI, IDRBT, CDSL, NIC, IAF, BEL, Indian Railways, ErNET, UID, UPI, BSF, CRPF, Ministry of Home Affairs, Wipro Technologies, Cognizant, Emphasis, and DECIS.

Majority of its customers are a direct result of reference and longtime trust that Radware has built over a period with its partners and customers. The administration of the organization strongly believes in tactful handling and implementation of each project and, therefore, provides comprehensive support to its channel partners. Thanks to the domain expertise of Radware that enables its partners and customers assimilate technology to their full potential.

It is noteworthy that in a fierce atmosphere where organizations are competing for survival, Radware is marking its presence by extending solutions to governments under Smart city projects and State WAN Projects. Undoubtedly, it possesses the infrastructure to support its customers and in turn, enjoys majority market share in almost all verticals. Radware solutions play a major role in setting up customers’ application and security infrastructure.

The extensive post-sales support gives the company that extra advantage needed to create stronger bonds with its customers and partners. A complete focus and attention on the end-to-end solutions and hand-holding of customers until successful execution ensures the success that goes to build a vigorous customer base. For Radware, Marketing is more about spreading technology know how, handholding and enablement, hands-on training across solutions to all customers, partners and even prospects with free certification to ensure they understand and appreciate its solutions and the technology behind.

Participation in industry-specific 3rd party C level events gives the company direct access to its target audience. Through periodical engagement in training, seminars and tactical online marketing, the team of Radware stays in regular touch with partners and customers through mailers, social media, and webinars. Radware strives for a long-term relationship with its potential customers.

Progressive Work-Culture

A sense of belongingness motivates the team to work like a family unit.

Typically like in any business, every year it takes on a new business challenge and sets new goals to emerge as a winner.  The Company has always let its leaders design their agenda and chart their own path. It encourages the teams to freely pursue their style of working in their respective regions. Needless to say, this entrepreneurial style of working has done wonders to careers and certainly is a driving force behind its success. Radware is all geared up to empower businesses with new features and benefits that any large world-class business center would offer.

The Driving Force of Radware

Single-handedly driven, Radware India is the No.1 player in the country in Application Delivery Networking and Cyber Security Solutions. The CEO Magazine has chosen to share the success story of Nikhil Taneja, Managing Director India, SAARC and Middle East to inspire and motivate the next generation professionals.

Bagging twenty-four years of a promising and rewarding career, the industry stalwart, Nikhil Taneja needs no formal introduction as he is termed as a phenomenon in the IT industry. Nikhil’s journey with Radware has been quite remarkable and can be noted to encompass immense hard work, dedication, positive aggression, and focused leadership. He joined Radware at a young age of 28 as the Country Head – India & SAARC Operations and since then he has been steering the helm at Radware. Surpassing all the obstacles, Nikhil has contributed substantially towards the company’s global numbers in terms of business and resources.

Under his leadership, Radware cracked the two biggest deals in the Indian IT industry’s history with IDRBT and Indian Air Force. He is certainly the key driving force responsible for the growth and expansion of Radware market in the entire Asian subcontinent. His rich and diverse experience has led to significant contribution towards the overall growth of Radware across the globe.

Recently, having risen to the position of Managing Director India, SAARC and Middle East, Nikhil has completed sixteen years at Radware on 31st March 2018. For a man of his caliber, it is not usual to spend such a long span of time in a single organization. The kind of energy, drive and work ethics Mr. Roy Zisapel brings is quite motivating for Nikhil as he aspires to follow his footsteps and succeed.

A dearth of understanding the change induces fear. Shifting focus from one technology to the other, one region to another and taking up bigger responsibilities are all part of the change. Nikhil’s acceptance of new environment, new challenges helped him adopt them quickly and paved a way to reach the pinnacle of success. Threat landscape changes every moment and if you are not ready to change and adapt, you will be thrown out of the race pretty soon.  Change is an opportunity and that’s the only constant both in personal as well as professional life.

Everybody has to face failure at some point as they can be equally possible outcomes of a process that can eventually lead to learning. Failure is a part of the journey and the best way to deal with it is to identify the reason for failing to plug that leak. During his interaction with The CEO Magazine, Nikhil says, “Every time I failed, I have made an extra effort to get to the bottom of it to know why and how it happened and to ensure it does not get repeated in future.” Reflecting on his experiences, Nikhil elucidates, “Your experiences should be your learnings and they should grow and make you wiser as you go along in life and career. I do try to put into practice some of the business management ideas and skills that I learnt from managers in my previous organizations. One should always see both sides of a coin, good & bad and take actions accordingly.

As the organization grows and the team starts growing bigger, the focus remains not only on sales but there arrives diverse challenges and issues such as employee retention, taxes, compliance, legal etc.  Addressing all of them is a tough job but this is what makes a good and strong leader like Nikhil. Fledgling moments are a bit difficult for any beginner and Nikhil is no exception. Initially, having come from a sales and number-oriented job, he faced difficulties in adapting to the managerial role but soon he got into the new role. Today it comes naturally to him to manage teams, work and plan business strategies with them.

“There are no secrets to success. It is the result of preparation, hard work and learning from failure.”

Success is not an overnight phenomenon as generally, people see or perceive. It takes a lot of efforts, perseverance, well-directed goal, well-constructed planning and devoted execution thereof and last but not the least, a continuous learning from mistakes.

Here we are narrating you one of the justified, if not the perfect, stories of hard-earned success. It is a story of a man who belongs to a small city, a city without any advancement in the field of internet accessibility. All it had were one or two cyber cafes and those too with slow dial-up connections. The story is about Mr Manish Bansal, Co-founder,www.newstrend.news and Newstrend Network Communication Private Limited.

Being born, in 1979, in Khariar city, a ‘Notified Area Council’ in Nuapada district of the Indian state of Odisha, he completed his graduation from IGNOU. He started working as a traditional businessman as he believes ‘one should never hesitate of starting from zero’ and later he went on to become a well-known entrepreneur in the domain of news and media industry. He illuminates one should not be afraid of failures. According to him “When you fail at something, you actually gain a little bit of experience and starting again along with that experience might be able to get better results next time”. He strongly urges not to give up and believe in perseverance.

He further explains the significance of compassion. He quotes “Having a passion for work is the key to success”. He also adds “Always remember to ask yourself a question: When was the last time you did something new for the first time?”

At the early stage of his career, he was engaged in his family business of rice production despite having no interest in it solely due to it being the only source of his and his family’s survival. After not achieving much there, he started looking for other avenues. As he has a great interest in internet and social media, he started his first news and media website “Newstrend.in” in 2015 but got little success and consequently had to close it down. But he did not give up and started with more energy and determination and the result is in front of us.

Speaking about the ideology of Newstrend, Mr. Bansal replied “the world is full of information and in order to keep up with the fast pace of life where it becomes difficult to find the time and read a newspaper, here at Newstrend.Newstrend Logonews we make data engaging and accessible to millions of users by using online portal as a medium…” Newstrend is an omnium-gatherum or collection of all important news and other informative content which one should be aware of.

According to Alexa, the website, as on today, ranks 1271 in the world and 25 in India. Newstrend holds a total area of approximate 100000 sq. feet whereas office area is of 5000 sq.feet in Khariar.

As per KousikSaraf, an entrepreneur, “the way Newstrend is working, it will achieve tremendous success in the coming years.” The revenue earning model of Newstrend is very transparent and democratic. It generates revenue through programmatic advertisement, Facebook audience network, Google AdSense etc. It generated INR 50 million last year and aiming at a growth rate of around 150% in the upcoming years.

Mr.Bansal is very proactive in his approach as he is fully aware of the ever-changing environment of business, particularly the media industry and he is ready to adapt and respond to those unforeseen changes as he says “Today people consume our content, but it might get a change in coming days. Newstrend will remain at forefront of that change.”

Post the Olympics in Rio, the gates for sports like Badminton, Wrestling, and Boxing seem to have opened a lot more and thus more athletes are expected to gain prominence out of it. Hockey has had been the mainstay in the past and looking at the current bunch of players in that field, one could be hopeful of their bright future. Cricket has always been the people’s favorite and would remain so for years to come. Football, now that’s the sport to talk about. With the emergence of ISL and obviously I-league, the engagement appeared to have increased only. So, in a nutshell, the country is heading towards the right path in terms of future in sports. The company also aims to attract more footfalls and to be a treat for every sports lover.

As far as the near future is concerned, we will be delivering content in international languages. We are also planning to promote sports at grass-root level in a big way”

Minoru Usui, President, Seiko Epson Corporation writes for The CEO Magazine

Since starting as an engineer in the printing business in the late 1970s, I could not have imagined that Epson would become the company it is today: a global technology leader with a mission to better society and the world we live in. It surprises people to know that Epson is much more than a printer company and, in an age where technology is all around us, I want people to know about the technological advances that Epson brings. We have a passion for opening up new domains with our original technologies and it is this aspiration to try new things and the desire to move towards the unexpected that is needed as we move into an era where technology is becoming increasingly integral in our lives. People are hesitantly accepting the benefits technology will bring to their workplace in terms of increased productivity, but at the same time feel increasingly alienated and resistant. As manufacturers, it is our role to alleviate these fears and create products that help solve real problems and improve people’s lives; as organizations, it is our responsibility to integrate technology into the workplace; and as a society, it is our role to accept the opportunities that technology presents.

But I have to admit that our company has not always been so customer focused, and there was a time when we were guilty of looking more towards the competition than towards the customer. After I became president I decided to focus on a goal l of becoming an indispensable company that acts as a positive force in society. I have always valued our traditional Japanese spirit of monozukuri – the art and science of manufacturing – in keeping us grounded and able to deliver innovative products to the market, and I felt it was time to return to these roots. Monozukuri has been at the heart of everything we do since we began manufacturing high precision watch parts 75 years ago, and – while many of our competitors outsource production – we are proud of our vertically integrated business model that means we not only manufacture our own products, but retain our ability to reflect customer needs in the design and creation of these products. However, it is not only a philosophy articulated in every Epson product; it is one that is applied to the way we operate and I believe these old-fashioned values are applicable to the world today and will be in the world of tomorrow. As we move into an era where many feel uncertain about what the future holds, there are two principles of monozukuri that I believe will resonate with society today.

The first area is all about “focus on the customer”. While it is essential to have a vision – whether as individuals or as an organisation – that vision needs to be one that is realistic and one that meets the needs of those around us. It was very much this approach we took when looking at evolving Epson’s Moverio range of smart glasses. Where others have aimed the range at the consumer, Epson saw a unique opportunity to develop a product suited to industry and business needs. Despite being faced with numerous options for where we could take this product, we listened to what our customers wanted – for example, a more durable and robust structure; a higher quality camera; and a longer battery life. We wanted to create a unique product, one that others cannot replicate due to the Epson technology in the product. This resulted in a highly usable product, which has seen growing success on the market and a model we will continue to refine as industry requirements evolve.

The second area is built around “continuous improvement.” Everything we do should be centred on focusing on a greater goal and taking a single-minded approach and generating ongoing improvements to allow us to achieve that goal. Even when challenges present themselves, having this mind-set encourages the strength to keep going even when others around you might give up. It was with this strength, combined with our vision for printing in the late 80s that my team and I began to imagine the future possibilities that piezo technology could bring to the printing domain. In the 1990s, this came to fruition when I was given the leadership of a project development team of 80 highly skilled engineers to begin work on commercialising Micro Piezo technology. Today, we have one of the most innovative inkjet printer ranges that use this technology and bring a wealth of environmental, efficiency and productivity benefits to customers.

Technology aside, I have applied this mantra in my role as president at Epson. Combined with my engineering background, I sought to streamline our focus as a company by concentrating on our strengths and applying these strengths to areas where we could generate original value and really make a difference to people’s lives. This idea came to fruition in 2016 when I set a vision for the company that would address four core areas of innovation: inkjet, visual communications, wearables and robotics. As a result, our business is seeing substantial growth in these strategic business segments. In fact, Epson today ranks as one of the world’s leading technology companies, with sales revenues of $9 billion*, more than 72,000 employees in 88 companies and strong, if not market leading, positions for our inkjet printers, projectors, smart glasses and industrial robots within these focus areas. We are also an innovation powerhouse. We spend €1.4 million on R&D every day, filing about 4,000 new patents each year (and holding about 50,000 patents globally) – and we have been voted as one of the top 100 global innovators for six successive years.

We are now poised for the next chapter and I am ready to take the company forward. Our Corporate Vision (Epson 25 Corporate Vision) is one of growth based on the creation and development of a suite of products that generate original value and are specifically designed for a new connected age of people, things and information. It is a vision we expect will drive global revenues to 1,700 billion yen (approx. $15 billion) by 2025. Yet it will remain a vision grounded in our spirit of craftsmanship, dedication to our customers and commitment to our responsibilities in helping to protect the world we all live in.

I am certain in our potential to be so much more than a printing company. While that is and will remain a core part of who we are, we have the potential to thrive in the area of robotics, wearables and projectors thanks to our R&D and manufacturing heritage – monozukuri. My aim is to innovate and create new technology with the aspiration of creating a better world because it is certain that technology is going to change the world around us.

Connect2India, the SaaS Enabled Managed Marketplace for Global Trade, continues to scale aggressively.

The Micro, Small and Medium Enterprises (MSMEs) are to play a vital role towards achieving the aim of inclusive growth and lessening the gap between the rich and the poor, Commerce and Industry Minister Suresh Prabhu said at the recently concluded International SME Convention – 2018. The international convention with theme of “Business beyond Borders” was attended by SMEs, Associations and Government bodies from across 30+ countries.

India is currently home to 60 Million+ MSMEs and only a very small percentage of that participates in Global Trade. Similarly, a very small fraction of overseas SMEs currently trade with India.  This is in spite of the fact that SMEs are lifeline and backbone of our country’s economy. Highlighting this, Union Minister for MSME, Sh. Giriraj Singh said that the first ever International SME Convention is to bring in positive prospects for the Indian MSMEs.  He further said that the convention comes in line with Prime Minister Narendra Modi’s vision for the country. Giriraj Singh even highlighted the need of an integrated platform to integrate product, technology and people that would allow SMEs to go global.

One such company which stood out in the convention and which is making this vision a reality, implementing and executing ‘go global’ for Indian and overseas SMEs on the ground is Connect2India.  Connect2India, as the name suggests, is a bridge to connect the world to India and vice versa. It is a SaaS enabled managed marketplace for global trade and offers an integrated platform and end-2-end managed solutions to enable and empower Indian SMEs to trade globally and overseas SMEs to trade with India.  Connect2India received appreciation from one and all, including from Union Ministers, for the work it’s doing to enable SMEs to go global.

Connect2India Founder with Union Ministers at ISC – 2018

There are barriers to global trade but it’s mostly about perception”, says Pawan Gupta, Founder & CEO of Connect2India. “There is lack of knowledge and information with regards to going global and we are bridging this knowledge gap”, he further adds.

The world is full of opportunities in the shape of unexplored global markets, WTO recently predicted a 3.7% growth in global trade for the coming year, this means more demand in the global markets, which eventually means, more opportunities for SMEs to sell their product and take advantage of the vacuum between current supply and foreseen demand. Even at the convention, Mr. Suresh Prabhu stressed on the complementary relationship between big enterprises and MSMEs. He mentioned that “Only if the small survive the big will prosper”.  Big enterprises and MNCs require global value and supply chain, which is not possible without MSMEs. Need of the hour is strengthening these linkages between big and small, and together both will propel the global economy.

With a fast growing economy, expanding global market, middle class of nearly 300 Million+, and digital penetration of 400 Million+, the opportunities for SMEs are immense. Unfortunately, Indian SMEs are losing on this global growth channel because of lack of global awareness, global visibility and access to global opportunities.  The challenge is Indian SMEs are not aware of what to export, where to export, when to export, whom to export, how to export, how to manage paperwork, how to manage export finance, how to ensure payment, whom to approach to help with export execution etc.  This is exactly the pain point Connect2India is solving, both for Indian SMEs and Overseas SMEs, and is evolving the complete global trade ecosystem in India, with strong value proposition for all the constituents.

It is more about generating awareness, educating customers and handholding them than a selling effort! We are adding value to the customer from initiation stage till the execution stage and our customers are really appreciating this end-2-end approach where they are getting everything under one roof”, says Sumit Bhatnagar, Director-sales at Connect2India, who led the exhibition and presentation of Connect2India at International SME Convention.

Sumit and Pawan at ISC - 2018

Sumit and Pawan at ISC – 2018

We are not aiming to make money by selling gimmicks, we want our customers to actually export and we know that leads would only take them so far. Language barrier, logistics support, documentation & paperwork, due diligence & trade history of buyers are few of the many challenges that an Indian aspiring exporter faces at every step of the way.  If we really want him to be able to export, we have to guide him every step of the way and that’s what we offer at Connect2India… The holistic solution”, he adds.

Connect2India started its journey around 2 years back with a team of five. “The focus since the beginning has been to build a very strong foundation and deliver tangible value to customers and the strong foundation not on one aspect but on multiple aspects such as technology platform, leadership team, company culture, sales & marketing channels etc”, says Pawan. If the foundation is strong, it makes it easy to scale and grow very aggressively. Further, you need to develop trust with customers and there is no better way of creating trust by delivering value. Gimmicks, discounts and freebies will get you only so far. Nothing makes us happier than making our customers happy, adds Pawan.

Connect2India Leadership Team

Connect2India Leadership Team

The approach seems to have paid rich dividends to Connect2India so far. With full platform launched in end of April 2016 for Indian and overseas SMEs, Connect2India already works with a Billion+ data size, has 12.5 Million+ Organic Google Impressions per month, has 7.5 listed SMEs, 2 Million+ Global Trade counterparts, gets 600,000 Google Crawl requests per day and has paying SME customers all over India within multiple industries, including several large Indian conglomerates also using Connect2India.

The leadership team is a great combination of youth, experience and exuberance and an all-inclusive culture has ensured that there is zero attrition of the core team. With its self-sustainable business model and focus on 100% customer success, Connect2India is all set to further scale very aggressively with large number of Indian and overseas SMEs on boarding the platform to successfully arrange and execute their global trade business using Connect2India.
