Who has the highest IQ in the world? Who is the smartest person alive today?

In the early days, there were many influential geniuses who changed the world and created history. People like Leonardo da Vinci, Isaac Newton, and Socrates brought groundbreaking ideas that have lived on long after their deaths and benefited the world.

Albert Einstein, Stephen Hawking were some of the smartest people in the world who had outstanding IQ scores. The world we are living today was built upon the contributions of these geniuses. Without their work and intelligence we could not know even the fundamental areas of knowledge, such as gravity, physics, or how to properly wear suspenders.

While these brilliant people are no longer around, there are some influential geniuses alive today who have high IQ scores.  

What is IQ?

IQ stands for “Intelligence Quotient”. It is basically the sum of score derived from some standardized tests designed to check a person’s  intelligence. People with high IQ level, hold the ability to get, analyze and handle information in a deep level. They complete the process faster as compared to normal people.

Vos Savant has one of the world’s highest IQs (228), and she is known as the smartest person in the comment. Her name is recorded in the Guinness World Record for smarts. Although Savant is more than capable of holding her own in intellectual circles, she has opted to follow a less traditional path than more verified geniuses. She has run the famous Column named “Ask Marilyn” for Parade for more than 30 years. Through her column, she answers for different questions. She is married to the inventor of the artificial heart .

Marilyn was born on 11 August, 1946 in St. Louis, Missouri, United States. Apart from being famous for her IQ, she is an American magazine columnist, author, lecturer and playwright.

With the IQ level of 225, Chris Hirata is in the second position among the people with the highest IQ in the world. He could have had a starring role in Baby Geniuses. By the time Chris was a preteen, he had his profile in the Chicago Tribute showing his virtuosic ability. As per  the piece, as a curious kid, Chris used to entertain himself by estimating the cost of the grocery bill as they wound their way through the supermarket.

 He was able to price each item by weight, quantity and any discount that might be applied. He was even considering the sales tax into his calculation.  Chris Hirata was born on November 30, 1982 in Ypsilanti, Michigan. He won the gold medal in 1996 at the Intentional Physician Olympiad when he was just 13 year old. He studied physics at Caltech from the age of 14 to 18 and he did his graduation in 2001.

The greatest female chess player, Judit Polgar has an IQ of 170. She and her sisters were homeschooled by their father, it was an experimental curriculum that used chess as the central foundation. Instead of gaining traditional knowledge, Judit Polgar became the youngest Grandmaster ever when she was just 15 year old. She held the rank of top female player for 25 years before her retirement.  

Judit was born on 23 July 1976 in Budapest and she is considered as the strongest female chess player of all time. Presently, she is providing guidance to the men’s national team in her home country of Hungary. Because of her successful efforts in opening doors for female players and promoting chess education, she has been honoured with Hungary’s highest honour, the Order of Saint Stephen.

Kim Ung-yong is a classic genius case of starting… young and is among the smartest people in the world. You will surprise to know that at his fifth birthday, Kim could speak four languages because he was studying differential calculus by age three.

He holds the Guinness World Record for IQ at 210 and he was invited as a guest student in physics at Hanyang University when he was three year old. He was  invited to America by NASA at age eight, he worked at the space organization for ten years and then returned to Korea. Despite his amazing intelligence, Ung-yong stressed that a high IQ does not bring happiness and there are other more important things in life. That’s why he chose a provincial college to earn his Ph.D. in civil engineering instead of attending Korea’s most prestigious institution. Later, he became an adjunct faculty member at Chungbuk National University.

When he was asked how he learned to do this in this small age, he said that he learned it from watching Sesame Street. When he reached 7 year, Too was reading calculus books for hours a day and at ten, became the youngest ever gold medallist in the International Mathematical Olympiads.
