Established in 1943, Jeep stands as an iconic American automotive company with a storied past and a reputation for crafting robust and adaptable vehicles. Over the years, Jeep has maintained a track record of creating automobiles celebrated for their off-road prowess, resilience, and distinctive style, and the Jeep Compass stands as a commendable addition to their esteemed lineup.

The Jeep Compass isn't just manufactured in India; it embodies the essence of an SUV tailored to suit the Indian market. This rugged and resilient vehicle exudes the unmistakable Jeep quality. The standard Compass lineup offers a variety of options, including petrol-manual, petrol-auto, diesel-manual, and diesel-auto, with the latter two available in all-wheel drive configurations. While the mechanical aspects remained unaltered, the entire range received a substantial interior upgrade in early 2021. Although the Compass Trailhawk is currently unavailable, an improved version is anticipated to be reintroduced soon.

Jeep has introduced an exciting addition to the Compass lineup, the Black Shark edition, and has also unveiled a fresh diesel automatic powertrain option for the 4x2 variants.

The Heart of the Compass

The Jeep Compass comes exclusively with a single engine option, a robust 172PS 2.0-litre diesel engine, which is paired with a standard 6-speed manual transmission. Additionally, there's an optional 9-speed automatic transmission available, but this option is reserved for the all-wheel-drive system. Jeep has recently discontinued the 163PS 1.4-liter turbo-petrol powertrain from its lineup.

A Feature-rich Experience

The Jeep Compass offers a wealth of convenient and safety features. It includes a 10.1-inch infotainment system with wireless Apple CarPlay and Android Auto, cutting-edge connected car tech, and an Alpine sound system with a subwoofer for premium audio. The cabin is spacious and tech-savvy with a panoramic sunroof, wireless phone charger, and a 10.25-inch digital driver's display. Additional conveniences comprise ventilated front seats, a powered tailgate, and keyless entry with a push-button start. Safety is a priority, with six airbags, ABS with EBD, parking sensors, a 360-degree camera for better visibility, and electronic stability control for a confident driving experience.

Variants and Pricing

The Jeep Compass offers five primary variants: Sports, Longitude, Night Eagle, Limited, and Model S. For personalisation, it offers a vibrant colour palette including Techno Metallic Green, Galaxy Blue, Bright White, Exotica Red, Minimal Grey, and Magnesio Grey.

In terms of pricing, the Jeep Compass starts at Rs 20.49 lakh (ex-showroom), making it more budget-friendly. The new diesel automatic two-wheel drivetrain is priced at Rs 23.99 lakh (ex-showroom), a significant reduction of about Rs 6 lakh.

For a distinctive touch, the Black Shark special edition features bold blacked-out elements, from badging and grille to alloys and roofs. Its interior complements this theme with stylish red accents for added flair.
