WOMEN'S ENTREPRENEURSHIP DAY 2019- AN OVERVIEW

In the contemporary business world, women are a rising force. They are not only starting more businesses than ever before but doing so at twice the rate of men.

As per the report of The Global Entrepreneurship Monitor 2014, "200 million women on the international level have established their venture and by 2022, it is expected that over one billion women will enter the economy as employers, producers, and entrepreneurs."

In spite of the fact that women across the world are on the leading positions in the entrepreneurial ecosystem and making vital contributors to their countries' economies, still, they are overlooked in the business world.

The biggest proof for this situation is that only 2% of venture funding goes to women-led enterprises and the gender disparity in this space is continually increasing.

It is despite the 21st century promising to be all about technology transforming industries, with digital transformation and cloud being the major factors that will have an impact.

That is why; the concept of Women's Entrepreneurship Day was introduced to recognise and empower women business leaders and entrepreneurs globally.

Women's Entrepreneurship Day brings the world together to celebrate wonder women entrepreneurs from all business fields and sizes.

The main focus for this day is to create a connection of women-owned businesses and employees, organizations and universities who support and encourage women's entrepreneurship, to encourage and celebrate women on this Day.

How the Idea for Women's Entrepreneurship Day Initiated?

The first time, Women's Entrepreneurship Day (WED) was celebrated on 19th November 2014. The inaugural event was held in New York City at the United Nations.

In the same year, the Women's Entrepreneurship Day Organisation was established with a vision to empower women and girls to become active participants in the economy by igniting a network of female leaders, innovators, and entrepreneurs to start start-ups, drive economic expansion, and advance communities on a global level.

The ultimate goal to celebrate Women's Entrepreneurship Day is to empower, celebrate, inspire and support women and girls in business and technology locally and globally.

And, to accomplish this goal, Women's Entrepreneurship Day Organisation builds and catalyzes the vital networks of like-minded persons and organizations that female business leaders need to work on their full potential and introduce tremendous change in the world.
