21-DAY LOCKDOWN MAY EXTEND – SAY RUMOURS

There have been baseless rumours in some alleged media reports spreading across the country about the extension of the 21-day lockdown to curb the spread of the coronavirus or COVID-19, but the government has denied all such rumours.

A report has been released about the ongoing debates to extend the lockdown period after being alarmed by the massive unexpected exodus of the migrants trying to reach their homes safely in the desperation of food and shelter. There has no such statement come through the government of any such talks happening, any such discussion is called in unsubstantiated at present.

Amidst the chaos, the cabinet secretary while denying any such report made a statement, "I'm surprised to see such reports, there is no such plan of extending the lockdown."

The lockdown will be ending as decided earlier on 14th April 2020, Prasar Bharati, the state-run broadcaster also called the news fake. The press information bureau tweeted, "There are rumours and media reports, claiming that the Government will extend the #Lockdown21 when it expires. The Cabinet Secretary has denied these reports, and stated that they are baseless."

After Prime Minister Narendra Modi announced a 21 days lockdown for the greater good ensuring that the already rapidly spreading virus does not infect more people has tried to meet ends of the situation and control the aftermath of the lockdown. He has requested people to completely forget about stepping out of their houses in the pandemic situation and stay safe wherever they are, while he will ensure every daily essential is made to reach the doorsteps.

One of the biggest challenges for the government has at present been keeping the supply going for food and goods to help the migrants heading home. People have been flocking in thousands ad the fight to defeat COVID-19 is getting worse with the coronavirus cases in India already crossing the margin of 1000 including 27 deaths. The whole purpose of social distancing is not rigorously being followed with people coming in large crowds at shops and the borders unnecessarily after multiple reminders of assurances being provided by the government. One of the worst times has hit the Delhi, Uttar Pradesh and the Bihar governments due to the amplifying migrant traffic.
