After earning a Master of Engineering from PSG College of Technology, India and an MBA from the Ross School of Business at the University of Michigan, Prabhu Patil began his career as a scientist. In the early 1990s, he built surface-to-air missiles for India's Ministry of Defense.
Prabhu moved to the US in 1997 and joined IBM in Charlotte, N.C., as a project lead in IT consulting. His keen interest in product lifecycle management propelled him to move to Detroit, the hub of PLM in the automotive industry.
He worked for Siemens PLM Software and helped automotive companies like Ford, Volvo, Mazda, Jaguar, and Land Rover, handling PLM consulting in over 13 countries.
Prabhu has extensive experience in successfully defining, executing and stabilizing complex global programs across various continents, countries, programs, and technologies in CAD/CAM/CAE simulation and PLM solutions.
Being highly proficient in defining and executing strategic PLM direction for global corporations, Prabhu Patil excels in finding solutions for today's emerging technology challenges.
Prabhu Patil has been recognized with several awards throughout his career: the Siemens Americas Consulting Award, the Ford Mustang C3PNG Award, the EDS Achievement Award, the SDRC Product Manager Award, the Rookie of the year 1997 Award, the PTC Award of Excellence, and the Best Scientist Indian Defense R&D Award.

My favourite aspect of being an entrepreneur is having the ability to live my dreams and to have the opportunity to nurture my ideas and watch them grow into a successful business. I would give this advice to youths:

Failing is not by choice, but getting up and moving forward is a choice that you must make. I have always looked at failure as a challenge to learn from and move forward from. Reaching the position, I am in has not been easy. I have had my share of failures. Every failure has been a learning curve, and even today I have not lost the zeal to learn.
Like any other start-up, PROLIM had also its share of turbulence. There were barriers impeding growth whether it was resources or investment. But it was both the will and the ability to overcome these challenges that enabled us to grow.
Many companies do not grow as they are unwilling to take the risk. But without taking that risk no high-tech company can grow. We have had to continuously innovate in response to the globally changing marketplace. It is important to anticipate the risks and find a way around them to grow and succeed.
