UMANG or Unified Mobile Application for New-age Governance is the name of the e-Governance application that has been launched by the Government of India On 23 November 2017 at the fifth edition of the Global Conference on Cyberspace in New Delhi as all-in-one single unified secure multi-channel multi-platform multi-lingual multi-service freeware mobile app.
This platform accesses over 841 services through 127 department central and state government services in multiple Indian languages over Android, iOS, Windows.
These services include all the government policies including AADHAR, DigiLocker, Bharat Bill Payment System, PAN, EPFO services, PMKVY services, AICTE, CBSE, tax and fee or utility bills payments, education, job search, tax, business, health, agriculture, travel, birth certificates, e-District, passport and much more.
UMANG (Unified Mobile Application for New-age Governance) is envisaged to make e-governance dream come true in India.
Developed by Ministry of Electronics and Information Technology (MeitY) and National e-Governance Division (NeGD), UMANG provides a one-stop solution offering platform for all Indian Citizens to access pan India e-Gov services ranging from Central to Local Government bodies and other utility services from private organizations.
Well, this citizen-centric application provides a unified approach where citizens can install one application to avail multiple government services as it is a part of the Umang Mission whose services has been made available on multiple channels like mobile application, web, IVR and SMS which can be accessed through smartphones, feature phones, tablets and desktops.
In recent times, there have been a plethora of schemes launched by the government, UMANG offers seamless integration with popular customer-centric services like Aadhaar and Digilocker and various other services such as PayGov.
A way to add convenience to your lifestyle, which digital platforms stand for, UMANG revolutionizes the way how an Indian citizen avails government services today because it leverages the current accelerated internet and smartphone penetration in our country.
UMANG has a dedicated Customer Support for user convenience from 10 am to 6 pm for all days of the week. After Umang app download, one can create and update the profile on the move, sort & filter through categories and services, and search to access relevant services.
This a key component of Digital India government initiative to make all traditional offline government services available 24/7 online and also to serve the diversified population, it is available in 13 languages and will replace or complement 1500 apps launched by the government so far.
Since the e-Gov service can be accessed via multiple channels, such as the mobile app, IVR, website, etc, one can download it, create and update profile, sort & filter through categories and services, or search to access relevant services while on the move.
You can download the UMANG App on your mobile phone using either of the following methods for different platforms:
PC: Scan the QR Code provided on the official website of Umang App
Phone: You can or give a missed call on 97183-97183 and Download the app using the link that will be sent to you on your phone OR you can visit the UMANG website here and enter your contact number in the required section. You will receive a link on the given number using which you can easily Download the app on your phone
Play Store & iOS: You may also visit Google Play Store (in case of Android users) or iTunes App Store (in case of Apple users) and type 'UMANG app' to download the application on your phone
Follow the first step to land on Umang App and then click on "register"
you will be now redirected to the mobile number verification page. Enter your mobile number to generate an OTP to complete the UMANG App registration process.
Following the generation and input of the OTP, you will be asked to create an MPIN and once you have set an MPIN, the registration is complete and you can view the UMANG App Home Page. This page shows a shortlist of recently opened services available through the UMANG App.
You can log in to have synergies with other key Government of India schemes, such as digital India, national e-governance plan, Bharat broadband network Bharat net, make in India, startup India, standup India, industrial corridors, bharatmala, sagarmala, dedicated freight corridors and udan-rcs.
You can also choose the Employees' Provident Fund (EPF) option and view the EPFO page. The services available here are employee and employee-centric service, general services and pensioner services.
Click on the 'employee-centric service' and proceed further. Well, you will be able to view two services: View passbook and raise the claim. Click on the view passbook tab to know your PF balance/details.
