Manali is one of the most liked hill stations in the Indian subcontinent. This town is located in the state of Himachal Pradesh, situated in the northern side of Kullu Valley, at Kullu district, mainland Kullu to Manali distance would be around 40 kilometres. resides approximately 270 kilometres or 170 miles north of the capital city Shimla and 544 kilometres or 338 miles northeast of the national capital Delhi. Best Time to Visit Manali

Best Places to Visit in Manali

Hadimba Temple: Hadimba Temple also known as Hidimba Temple and Dhungari Temple dedicated to Hidimba, wife of Bheema, was built by Maharaja Bahadur Singh in 1553. Here the wooden shrine of this temple does not follow the usual shrinking structure of Indian temples. Its peaceful environment and traditional stories make this temple one of the very popular places to visit in Manali, situated at old Manali, can be visited any day between 8:00 a.m. to 6:00 p.m.

Solang Valley: Solang Valley is located at Burwa, 14 kilometres away from the main Manali, approximately 8400 feet above sea level. It is a very popular place among tourists and always catches the attention of adventure seekers and sports lovers, here you can try your ski skills or go for a snowmobile exploration. Paragliding and Zorbing are other adventures to explore. This is a perfect location to enjoy and capture the memorable view of the Himalayas from the cable car.

Manali Gompa: The Manali Gompa is a Tibetan architecture’s Gadhan Thekchhokling Gompa, famously known as the Manali Gompa built by Tibetan refugees in the 1960s. This monastery gives you calm and spiritual vibes. Its exquisite murals which depict several important events of Buddha and Buddhism in different colours and its pagoda-style roof has been a centre of attraction of this monastery, tourists can also get some souvenirs and some Tibetan handicrafts. Tourists can visit any day except Sunday from 6:00 a.m. to 06:00 p.m.

Museum of Himachal Culture and Folk Art: Museum of Himachal Culture and Folk Art established in 1998, gives you a glimpse of rich culture and preserves the local heritage. Traditional garments, musical instruments, collections of masks used in festival dances, and models of ancient houses and temples reflect the importance of culture and the popular cult of Manali. There is a difference of timings in the season of April to November Museum opens 09:00 a.m. to 07:00 p.m. and in the season of December to March it opens 10:00 a.m. to 06:00 p.m.

Great Himalayan National Park: Great Himalayan National Park is a UNESCO World Heritage site. Some rare species are preserved in this park including 1000 different types of plants, 209 types of birds, and 31 mammal species, snow leopard is spotted here along with the Himalayan tahr (goat-like animal) and brown bears. Tourists can engage in hiking and camping in designated areas of National Park and but it should be noted that you need to obtain permission to enter the park in advance and the park also offers a decent arrangement of accommodations.

Katrain: Katrain presents you the distinct landscape from mostly covered sweeping terrain of Manali, this location is perfect who spend their time or want to experience fishing, this village gives you that local Himachali vibes and tourists can experience the local varieties, tourists can also visit this place for hiking purpose, this location is 25 km away from the Manali.

How to Reach Manali

By Air- Kullu Manali would be the nearest airport to Manali, located in Bhuntar, approximately 50 kilometres away from Manali. Direct flights you can catch from Delhi and Chandigarh. Taxis are always available outside the airport to reach the spotted location.

Chandigarh International Airport is also one of the nearest airports to Manali which takes 6 to 9 hours to reach Manali by car. Major operating airlines in this airport would be IndiGo, Jet Airways, SpiceJet, AirAsia India GoAir, Air India, and Vistara.

By Bus- Tourists can also avail the option of bus, nowadays a wide and more enhanced road network we have, Manali is quite well connected to the cities like New Delhi, Shimla, Kullu, and Leh. Delhi to Manali distance covers approximately 534 kilometres whereas Chandigarh to Manali distance would be around 304 kilometres.

Here you will experience a breathtaking and twisting experience through winding uphill roads. You can admire a view of mountain ranges, sparkling waterfalls, and green valleys off the road. Government buses can easily transfer you to the main town but Volvo buses are more preferred to travel more comfortably. You can take your vehicle as well.

By Train- Joginder Nagar Railway Station is the nearest railway station to Manali and also connects to some important cities of the state. However, the option of Ambala and Chandigarh are also available to reach the destination by train. And from the railway station, you can go to the destination by bus or taxi at a reasonable cost. Apart from this Kalka Railway Station, a terminal at the foot of the Himalayas connects Manali to major cities like New Delhi, Kolkata, Jammu, Mumbai, Amritsar, Bangalore, Hyderabad, and Chennai.
