It is not incorrect if we introduce Sharmila and her spirit with her favourite quote “In life, there is no such a thing as impossible”, as she is spearheading Chugh LLP and her personal life. Born and brought up in Telangana State, India, she is a leading dynamic leader with qualification background of being awarded Master of Arts in Public Administration and L.L.B (Bachelor of law) by Osmania University, India; and legal program from New Jersey, USA.
Sharmila is equipped with years of experience from her successful career since the year 2017 as on her return to India from the States, she was placed as a “Senior Partner” of Chugh Consulting (India), LLP, Hyderabad, India, which is part of a United States based international firm.
Backed with skills and knowledge, Sharmila’s career can be defined as aiding people who need clarity, guidance, and assistance in filings regarding the visa and immigration rules. As a dynamic woman leader and a visionary, she has resolved many complicated cases with continued high success rate and attended to enormous pro-bono work for immigrants and non-immigrants being familiar with the immigrants struggle in a foreign country. She actively volunteers in many non-profit organizations, manages her personal life, and follows her passion.
The CEO Magazine had an exclusive interview with the woman in diverse roles of a mother, author of ‘Dollar to Rupee’ book and dynamic woman leader, Sharmila Karingula, to get an insight of her perspective on various topics:
The CEO Magazine: Briefly describe your brand and solutions you have been delivering
Sharmila: Chugh LLP’s Immigration Practice Group has extensive experience in all areas of Immigration, Corporate, Litigation and Accounting. We specialize in the United States and global business immigration and represent small businesses, Fortune 500 companies and some of the largest Indian companies doing business in the U.S. In 2006, our immigration practice group processed roughly 6% of the annual H-1B quota.
The Immigration Practice Group is highly experienced in securing temporary (non-immigrant) visas and permanent residence (green card) for our clients. Our Immigration attorneys and professional staff have a thorough understanding of the federal regulations and the Immigration and Nationality Act. In addition, our staff is experienced in dealing with government agencies such as the USCIS (U.S. Citizenship and Immigration Services) and the U.S. Department of Labor (U.S. DOL). We regularly advise our corporate clients on issues including but not limited to intra-company transfers, I-9 compliance issues, and employer sanctions.

Sharmila: The leading members of Chugh, LLP Immigration Practice Group bring to the table over 35 years of combined experience in the field of immigration. Being immigrants themselves, many of our members understand the specific needs and concerns of our clients. Thus, we have successfully offered solutions to immigration divisions of the U.S. government, such as the UCSIS and in the Executive Office of Immigration Review with the U.S. Department of Justice.
Networking, being a key stepping for the brand, we have always strived to ensure a good connection with our clients as they can connect with us at our offices across the United States and in India, whenever they have an immigration question or issue and will be reciprocated with our uniform and consistent services, no matter which location our clients visit.
The state-of-the-art technology has been amplifying our ability to provide the clients with high-quality services in a time-efficient manner, even while handling a high volume of immigration cases. Sharmila: A key element that has directed my growth is maintaining a sound work culture. Thus, at Chugh LLP, we maintain a very professional and friendly atmosphere. We are deeply invested in our employees and providing them with a path to personal and professional success.
The CEO Magazine: What do you think are the keys to professional and business success for women in India?
Sharmila: Ikigai, a Japanese term that translates to ‘a reason to jump out of bed each morning’, is what I believe is the core key for success. In the professional world, a sense of ownership, the ability of multitasking, the mindset of being proactive with clear goals and actions backed with power outfit and confidence, good understanding, and focusing on positive and leaving negative behaviours are the core traits to follow.
The CEO Magazine: In a society like ours, with its skewed stereotypes, how did you manage to set out on your journey?
Sharmila: I believe that continuing on your journey is the key which will ultimately allow people to think in different angles and accept the change for growing the business and at the same time for well being of the society. One has to continue being strong to face the challenges and eventually people understand.
The CEO Magazine: What suggestion would you give for companies on how they can contribute to a more balanced and equal industry?
Sharmila: I believe, every brand must work with the core values of being focused, along with investing their energy on key areas like planning, strategies, being precise, time management, communication, being polite in addressing, being specific & strong while making decisions and being goal-oriented.
The CEO Magazine: What does the future hold for your company? Kindly share your future goals. What are you most excited about?
Sharmila: In the brand’s endeavour, I believe, every step in the business sector is challenging. If possible, we, as a brand, aim to expand with more branches and create more employment. Excited about the business development and how it is growing, with Chugh LLP, in future we aspect parallel work towards the economic growth of the country.
The CEO Magazine: What is a piece of advice in business you wish to pass on to our readers?
Sharmila: I believe there is no use regretting things that have already passed. One advice I would like to share is to never regret the past and work towards future goals as our happiness is in our hands.
