A decision that came from the pure zeal for doing something in the industry by herself was of the dynamic leader and first-generation entrepreneur, Jaisheela Padmanabhan to begin a tough entrepreneurial voyage as she laid the foundation for her brand Ascribe Healthcare Solutions.

Four years back, when the leader lost a job that she loved, and couldn't see herself working again for any other organization, her role as an entrepreneur started.

Backed with learning from her prior experiences and achievements in education which were like a fire in her heart telling her that she has a strong purpose that surpasses the reality of being an employee, she crafted a work culture based on her values and provides the best environment for success and excellence which in her organisation.

Under the leadership of Jaisheela, the medical billing and medical coding company have been offering revenue cycle management services in USA, Dubai, Oman and Qatar with a world-class global delivery team of healthcare, billing, coding and revenue cycle experts to help clients achieve their business objectives.

The brand's operations are based on the delivery model which amplifies growth reduces costs and gain from better productivity and performance.

The CEO Magazine has an exclusive interview with the Founder and CEO of Ascribe Healthcare Solutions and Founder and correspondent of Little Lollypopz Preschool, Jaisheela.

TCM: Who are your clients? How does your team ensure the unbreakable faith of your clients? 

Jaisheela: We cater to healthcare providers and billing offices in USA, Dubai, Oman and Qatar as we always search for opportunities that provide profit for our customers. With the fondness for their job and zeal, the Ascribe team acknowledges that we are a start-up and it requires a lot of contribution from each member of the company to achieve goals and grow together.

The team is more a family to me. Integrity, transparency and generosity are the values of Ascribe and the team has always kept these values high. We go far out our way to provide exceptional deliverables and fix problems to build stronger relationships.

TCM: As your company grew, or re-grew from your pivot, what were the primary challenges?

Jaisheela: I am a graduate in Physiotherapy from Dr MGR medical university, India, certified professional coder (CPC) from American Academy of Professional Coders (AAPC), and a member of healthcare professional organizations.

I am the first generation entrepreneur and coming from a humble background I didn't have exposure or the finance to start and run a successful business. Getting the first client was a big challenge as I didn't have the money to invest in the sales team.

I believe, getting the right talent to join the organisation was the second challenge because it was near to impossible to make the right candidate to join the company believing in one member team i.e ME. Getting the first employee was the biggest challenge.

TCM: How did you get where you are today, and who/what helped you along the way?

Jaisheela: To reach the current position today, I thank the god, my dad Mr Padmanabhan, my best friends as well as colleagues Ms Kavitha Manoharan and Mr Aqheel Ahmed who believed, encouraged and supported me in my dreams and Ascribe visions.

I was mentored by 2 American friends Mr Richard Posey and Ms Linda Larimore. Mr Posey, for 3 years, taught me many vital things about business and industry specifics while Ms Linda prayed, encouraged, motivated me, and helped me draft the emails for sales and proof checking for marketing materials.

Last but not the least, each member of the Ascribe team has been deploying efforts in turning Ascribe vision into reality.

TCM: What do you think are the keys to professional and business success for women in India?

Jaisheela: Women entrepreneurs have several qualities like perseverance, hard work, patience, optimism, intelligence and are great at multi-tasking. Their success is attributed to their untiring hard work, perseverance, tenaciousness, determination, confidence in them and most importantly, their compelling urge of wanting to do something positive in their lives.

Of late, women have tried to break their mould. Also, there have been significant social, political, and economic changes that have created opportunities for women as well as given them greater acceptance and recognition in the corporate world.

TCM: In a society like ours, with its skewed stereotypes, how did you manage to set out on your journey? What were the major challenges?

Jaisheela: Being the first female graduate in my family and first entrepreneur, getting approval from the family to pursue my dream was challenging. However, the spread about awareness for education has helped me to make the shift. I believe safety is a challenge as there were opportunities that I couldn't explore because of the same.

TCM: What is the toughest decision you've had to make in the last year?

Jaisheela: The toughest decision for me ever will be asking someone to leave the office if the expectations are not met or values of the company not being adhered to. We try all possible ways and give many chances for improvement but yet when we have to fire the employee it is the toughest decision for me personally as I see myself as failing as a leader.

What does the future hold for your company? Kindly share your future goals. What are you most excited about? 

Jaisheela: Within 2 years of our operations we have initiated offices in 3 countries including India, USA and UAE. "To Go Global" is the vision of the company along with creating more employment opportunities, positively impacting the community and giving back to the community and country in a meaningful way.

Crafting a successful brand to the point where it leaves a personal legacy behind is appealing and serves as motivation for many entrepreneurs. Creating and mentoring future entrepreneurs is one dream that I am working on.

We are not only motivated with profits but by being able to pass on the advantage to the community that we live in and the other lesser privileged ones.

TCM: Over the years, has your brand and you have been recognised by awards and milestones?

Jaisheela: "The only way to do great work is to love what you do." is a quote I get inspired with along with the various milestones and achievements we have received.

These include International Achievers Summit award for Fastest Growing Indian Company, Dubai, 2019, being listed Ascribe Healthcare Solutions among India's top 10 by Silicon India magazine, medical coding and billing service providers, 2019.

As a CEO, I have been recognised by World Leadership Federation as Emerging Entrepreneur of 2016- 2017, by Middle East Asia, Leadership Awards and Summit, Dubai, MA FOI Foundation as Young Promising Entrepreneur, 2018, selected as mentee at US Consulate and Indian government- Global Entrepreneur Summit, 2017; event addressed by Indian Prime minister and Ivanka Trump.

TCM: What's the best advice you have received in business that you wish to pass on to our readers?

Jaisheela: The advice I would like to share is continuing doing the business the right way. For us, customer loyalty, adoption of technology, delivering high-quality work, effective leadership, commitment to employee training and social responsibility are the focus.
