ANSHIKA AGGARWAL: THE YOUNG, PROMISING, DEDICATED WOMAN ENTREPRENEUR SPEARHEADING SMC GROUP TO NEW HEIGHTS

In a country like India where some of the Indian women are much neglected, there are some, who have soared higher. These powerful ladies have not only helped the society economically but also have done a lot in terms of exposing the potential that a woman holds.

Anshika Aggarwal, Director at SMC Group, represents women entrepreneurs of the present generation who have achieved at multiple levels professionally and socially to create a real difference in their workplace and the society.

Ms. Anshika is a high achiever and multi-talented with a strong belief in the law of attraction and hence she is an optimist for all things around her.

Following her father's dream and passion, she took the responsibility to nurture SMC Group and two of its subsidiaries – real estate advisory under SMC Real Estate Advisors and loan & mortgage advisory, IndiakaLoan.com under SMC Investments and Advisors Ltd.

Anshika is a Chartered Accountant by professional qualification and an ambitious and self-motivated individual. Marked by her single-minded quest for success and achievement, she is sure to change the way real estate is viewed today.

A GLIMPSE OF SMC AND ITS SUBSIDIARIES

SMC Real Estate Advisors, headquartered in Delhi, provides real estate solutions to home buyers and investors by acting as an aggregator between the buyer and the developer.

IndiakaLoan.com under SMC Investments and Advisors, headquartered in Delhi advises borrowers on their loan requirements and arranges funding options best suited for them in terms of rate of interest, tenure, EMI and the lender.

The company assists in all kinds of funding be it a personal loan, home loan, loan against property, loan against shares, working capital loans, project funding, equipment financing, unsecured business loans ranging from 25 lakhs to thousand crores with a vast network of 40 plus banks and NBFCs.

WHAT INFLUENCED HER TO BE AN ENTREPRENEUR?

Coming from a business background, Anshika has always wanted to work at a fast pace, take high risks for higher returns, challenge the impossibilities and overcome them.

So after qualifying as a CA and getting four years of exposure at EY, she decided to put her entrepreneurial side at play with an investment in an omnichannel fashion social commerce startup.

After being involved with the startup for a year, she took the charge of the two new business ventures of SMC to grow and further expand them to the next level.

MAINTAINING AN UNBREAKABLE FAITH OF CLIENTS

SMC clientele includes individuals and businesses who are seeking professional and trusted advice to fulfil their dreams which may be to buy a new house/invest/ fund child's marriage/education/ expand businesses. SMC believes that every client has the following three noteworthy expectations from a service provider

(1) proper understanding of his requirements

(2) transparency & honesty

(3) customised solution to his problem.

So they take special care of these aspects while advising their clients and that's how they enforce one of the core values of SMC – 'one transaction, lifetime relationship'.

CORPORATE ETHOS FOR EMPLOYEES

An idea may be worth millions but it might not result in a single penny if it's not executed correctly. Hence, an efficient and competent workforce is imperative. Fortunately, SMC has built a team of smart, self-motivated and extremely hardworking bunch of individuals who are highly loyal to the company.

The company has always believed in rewarding its performing employees timely and adequately, so the ethos which is well communicated to each employee is – you take care of the organization's growth, the organisation will take care of your growth.

MAJOR BATTLES WON ON THE WAY

When macro-level improvement is needed in any structure, you need to let the status quo fall apart and rebuild from the foundation. The transitional phase is where the challenges lie.

When Anshika set out to enforce much-needed professionalism in her organisation through a set of processes needed to be implemented, she had to continuously justify her decisions to the different stakeholders, there was attrition as few employees couldn't adapt to the changing culture and the clock was ticking which was very challenging for her.

However, she continued to keep faith in the outcome of her actions and once things streamlined and the results started to show, it all seemed worth it.

THE SECRET SAUCE BEHIND THE SUCCESS

"My determination, passion, and aggression towards business led me to join SMC and take up the challenges involved with a positive attitude. In my various business decisions, I would sometimes have second thoughts and in such cases, my go-to person is my father whom I'd share my plan with and let him act as a devil's advocate to it. Gladly, he would always show me both the positive and negative consequences of my decisions, owing to his years of experience and at the same time, he would give me a free hand to take the final call basis my judgment," Anshika proudly shared while talking about her secret behind the success.

BUSINESS SUCCESS FOR WOMEN IN INDIA

The key is two-faced. Firstly, we need more and more organizations to become accepting of women employees and provide them with necessary assistance like Flexi hours and secure conveyance and a conducive environment to work in.

Secondly, women need to disregard societal taboos and come forward and be more vocal about their aspirations and achieve them.

Further, we need more and more women in leadership roles. That way the taboos attached to working women and the corresponding resistance in hiring women employees will automatically lessen.

TOUGHEST DECISION MADE IN THE LAST YEAR

"While I was making structural changes in my company, I had to take a call on few employees on account of non-performance, it was certainly a tough call to make since the employees had been associated with the company for a long time," stated Anshika.

Be explicit about your unfamiliarity on a topic, understand the nuances involved and only then make a decision". I've always made sure of the same and continue to do so."
