Magsmen: Sandeep N’s Visionary Journey in Igniting Extraordinary Brand Legacies and Pioneering Brand Consulting

Mrs. Kavita Gupta, The Director, is M.A. (Economics) from Rajasthan University. She worked in Punjab National Bank for 14 years before quitting her job to help run TPM. She has been instrumental in giving TPM direction and helping it realize its vision.

THE BEGINNING

Working as a government bureaucrat, Mr. A. K. Gupta observed that the Indian industry lacked adequate support in the field of trade remedies. Therefore, with a vision of setting up a firm that is focused on the field of trade remedial matters he decided to quit his job with the government and established TPM Consultants.

From its very establishments, TPM has worked dedicatedly and diligently towards assisting the Indian industry in seeking due legal protection against unfair competition from imports.

Mr. Gupta further added, "We are a team of passionate and experienced professionals, focused on attaining results. One of the core values that are ingrained in our team is a "client-first" policy, which helps us in establishing long-term relationships with our clients.

This is also the reason why TPM boasts of having handled the highest number of cases in the field of trade remedies, not only in India but also globally."

DEMAND FOR CONSULTING SERVICES

The demand for consulting services in the field of trade remedies can primarily be attributed to two reasons. Firstly, international trade is undergoing a sea change at present. The countries are becoming more protective of their domestic manufacturing. This, in turn, means that the Indian exports are facing a higher number of investigations globally.

Secondly, India as a country continues to be highly import-dependent. Even in products where the country has achieved self-sufficiency, cheap unfair imports continue to enter the markets, and adversely impacting the Indian industry. Therefore, to ensure a vibrant and growing manufacturing sector, unfair and un-competitive imports must be checked.

MARKETING STRATEGIES

"TPM Consultants relies solely on referrals from clients. TPM believes that it has been able to grow and establish a name for itself due to its history of successful handling of cases and ensuring client-satisfaction" asserts Mr. Gupta.

The founder feels that the use of technology has increased over the period and has resulted in a drastic change in how consultancy services are provided. One of the biggest boons of advanced technology is the fast-reducing barriers to global trade-in-services.

BATTLES WON ON THE WAY

In the initial years of TPM's life, there were only a handful of firms engaged in the field of trade remedies and few had able to effectively cater to the growing need of the industry to seek protection against unfair competition.

Every member of the team is personally invested in ensuring the success of each case. The positive approach, coupled with years of experience and expertise in the field, has allowed TPM to create a name for them.

"A firm cannot achieve success overnight. Rather, it requires years of meticulous efforts. For a consultancy firm, it is extremely important that it should be able to deliver the desired results for its clients, without whom it cannot create a name for itself" states Mr. Gupta.

CLIENT ASSOCIATION

TPM is assisting both domestic producers in India seeking protection against duties as well as Indian exporters facing investigations in other countries. Further, their clients include producers in other countries, either seeking protection against imports in their own countries or opposing such measures in India or third world countries.

"Our clients belong to different sectors such as chemicals, petrochemicals, textiles, machinery, pharmaceuticals, fertilizers, constructions materials, paper, steel, etc. TPM team cherishes its valued clients. Apart from this, the corporate ethos includes complete honesty and accountability towards their clients" added Mr. Gupta.

TPM is now driven towards replicating their success on a global level. They would be able to make significant advances towards the same in the next 5 years by undertaking more assignments overseas and expanding in the field of non-tariff barriers and competition law.

SCENARIO FOR ENTREPRENEURS

Mr. Gupta believes that every entrepreneur has a different story about why he or she decided to start a business. Some have known from day one that they wanted to work for themselves and others come up with ideas while working for someone else and decide to take the entrepreneurial leap.

He also shares, "Every decision has consequences, whether good or bad. Over time, those consequences shape our reality and tell the story of our lives. Entrepreneurs who are doing well take note and carefully identify the potential long-term effects of each decision, while seeking counsel before making a major decision."

FEATHERS IN THE CAP

At its establishment itself, TPM had the distinction of being the first firm that worked exclusively in the field of trade remedies. Since then, they have handled the largest number of cases globally, to the tune of about 700 cases. TPM is based on four pillars, which set it apart from other firms in the field

  • Unparalleled experience and expertise

  • Passion and commitment

  • Hard work and diligence

  • Honesty and integrity

As a result of these, TPM has succeeded in creating and maintaining relationships with its clients over the past 20 years. TPM can best be described as an innovative solutions provider in the field of trade and competition.

Apart from its founders, the core team of TPM comprises of the following;
