Here, are the edited excerpts.   

When and how did you decide to choose the entrepreneurial path in the logistics industry?

My father laid the foundation for Logistics business in 1963 and later on closed it. I got inspired and I started from scratch in the 1970s with an aim to clear up the complexities of logistics industry and organize it appropriately.

I initiated it as a small transportation trade. From 1970 to 1980, I along with my three brothers during some interval of time joined this business. Presently, our company has five decades of business' record of accomplishment.

Tell us about how you became involved in the company and your progression.

Initially, we had set up the operation through 5-6 branches from Delhi to Guwahati for small retail transportation as Proprietorship followed by Partnership. In the Year 1980, we acquired our first corporate client- Assam Oil Company, Digboi. 

In the Year 1990, Business expansion with Jindal Group & IPCL afterward took over by Reliance. In the Year 1995, we extended the branch network to PAN India.

In the Year 2006, Company racked up the license to operate container trains with the focus of amplification in Rail Transportation. During the developing phase of the association, IDFC Private Equity tie-up with Company in the Year 2007 acquiring 1/3rd Equity Stake and in the year 2016-17, sold its entire equity stake.

In August 2017, CJ Logistics Limited, one of global logistics player based out at South Korea team up with 50% Equity participation. It is a strategic intent to make headway in the industry together.  Subsequently to this, the name of the Company got metamorphosed to CJ DARCL Logistics Limited.

In your own words, describe what your organization does.

CJ Darcl is one of India's preeminent Transport and Logistics service providers. It caters business-handling needs with over 2000 Customers PAN India.

Our service functions on multiple verticals including Iron & Steel, Minerals & Ores, Petroleum & Chemicals, FMCG & Retail, Engineering & Construction, Agri Products etc.

CJ DARCL has been executing transportation contract with most of reputed PSU companies, MNC's, leading conglomerate, and Private Sector Companies.

Do you carry out the business with a certain motto?

Yes, our business motto is to remain trustworthy and unimpeachable logistics solution provider while cutting down the transportation cost for the Logistics industry through the rational working & elimination of mediator cost and another unorganized player who charge hefty amount from customers.

Who are your clients? How did you establish a client culture around your services?

We have clientele in almost all sectors. The company is proud to be associated with Oil Companies, Jindal groups, Tata group, Reliance Group and many more. What are the forthcoming agendas of the corporation?

Based on the strategic transaction with CJ Logistics Corporation in August 2017, Company has chalked out the Synergy Master Plan base, which new business verticals namely Warehousing & distribution, Freight Forwarding, Automotive division have started recently. The company aims to cater entire gamut of logistics services for its esteemed Customers. 

What has been your greatest moment of success?

Customer satisfaction and reposing trust by awarding business opportunities as repeat business to our Company has been the best moments of success.

Role of IT

Information technology has been the catalyst of growth for CJ Logistics, and Mr Puneet Agarwal has been at the driving helm of the IT department who is also instrumental for automating this logistics business through his IT expertise. Puneet heads the IT department of the company as the President.
