Gentle cause of fighting malnutrition became inspiration

This company was started by means of a noble cause of fighting malnutrition in India and Africa. Mr. Aakas, CEO of the company, saw many kids dying and suffering from malnutrition. This made him plan something which could prove fruitful for them. He started a pilot pond and worked rigorously on it for one year. His destiny wanted him to make it large. So, in that order, he met his finnish partner and investor Mr. Mika. This is how the foundation stone of Prolgae Spirulina was laid. The name of the company is self-defining where Pro has been used for Protein-rich and remaining letters stand for the usage of algae. Spirulina has already become a major source of high consumption nutrients in the markets of Europe and USA. In India, it is still in its growing phase. This provides a fertile ground for the company to provide affordable products to a large and untapped market.

Differentiating Factors

The company is determined to solve the problem of malnutrition which is its major concern. Unlike its peers, it is not merely focused on making huge profits. Its prime objective is to provide affordable spirulina products and healthy food to future generations. Moreover, it provides Sun-dried spirulina products which contain more Protein in comparison to Spray-dried version which loses part of its nutritional value, digestibility and natural mild taste.

The company is looking to cater its products to all age groups. The company recognizes spirulina as a super food which has a sea of protein and a plethora of other nutrients imbued into it. Due to the presence of GLA, it is equivalent to mother’s milk. Apart from this, it is having 180% more calcium than milk, 5500% more iron than spinach, 670% more protein than tofu, 280% more antioxidants than blueberries and 3100% more B-carotene than carrots.

It is also working to extract phycocyanin from spirulina which is a blue pigment having more antioxidants. It looks for more investors to increase production and to produce other algae like astaxanthin. It eyes to tap the future of algae based foods. Compared to normal biscuits, spirulina added biscuits will yield more protein, calcium and vitamin. It has already started Research & Development on Algae based foods. Once it gets investors and good team then it will launch its products in market of Europe and USA. The goal of the company is to produce some 5000-6000 kg of spirulina per month by 2020 end.

This research began as soon as they found that 1 kg of spirulina had the same nutrients found in a 1000 kg of assorted vegetables. NASA was awestruck to know that it can even survive in a dormant state when the water evaporates. These traits make it truly a food for the future.
