Volano Entertainment Pvt. Ltd., India's leading participative sports firm hosted an adrenaline-pumping event, the inaugural Pune city edition of the 'Maruti Suzuki Devils Circuit (MSDC)', which saw participation from over 2000 individuals. The event took place on Sunday – 26th November 2017 at Hiranandani, Pune. Participants came from all over the country and big representations was seen from leading corporate organizations, colleges and even the Indian Army.
MSDC has brought to India a unique form of running- The obstacle run, that allows participants to experience the thrill of military style obstacles combined with traditional running. With a custom made 5kms long track, interspersed with 15 thrilling obstacles, MSDC presented something truly new to the adventure seekers of the city. Added to this exhilarating experience was an expo arena that featured a DJ, concert style main stage replete with entertainment that saw crowds go wild dancing and a super cool Swift zone that allowed the participants to test their strength and stamina both pre and post the run.
The inaugural Pune event also witnessed the build up of the Legends Cup, where the most competitive obstacle course runners from across India are competing for the grand prize of a Maruti Suzuki Swift. The leaderboard will keep ticking till the last edition of this season in Delhi NCR in March 2018 where the top athlete in both male/female category will claim the right on the Maruti Suzuki Swift car. For the Pune edition, the top spot in the female category went to Lalita Madhwal who is herself a police officer! And the male category was won by Ajith CT who completed the entire obstacle course in a record time of 22 minutes 51 seconds. In fact the winner and the first runners up in the men's category were both from the Indian army, proving yet again that the armed forces training is unparalleled! We were truly honoured to host our brave Jawans, once again.
Post the completion of the run, each participant was awarded the super cool Finishers medal and an energy drink to hydrate themselves with. The consensus amongst the participant as to the most interesting obstacle was "The Brain Freeze"- essentially a pool filled with over 15 tons of ice cubes that once slides into, just before reaching the Finish Line. Not only does this give relief to the tired muscles but it also awakens every sense of your being, allowing you to experience a moment you will never forget!
Pune being a young city having considerable population of student community from all over the country, the event witnessed a huge participation from Sri Balaji Society College, Pune. The students were all seen enjoying the obstacles and partying in the expo zone post their run. Besides this the event also saw big turnout from corporates like Barclays, Capgemini, Infosys and Deloitte to name a few.
Maruti Suzuki Devils Circuit, one of the most innovative concepts of running introduced by Volano, is designed to encourage sports enthusiasts to stand together for a fit and active India. Its unique model encourages camaraderie between runners as they tackle a running track interspersed with military-style obstacles, including high warped walls, barbed wire and ice.
