As a result of which they develop an inclination towards technical knowledge. This causes most of students to choose engineering as their domain to build career in. Therefore, they choose relevant subjects (such as, mathematics and science) for their senior secondary education.

Now, once the higher secondary education is complete, it time for even higher education level, that is, graduation. For engineering students, it is termed as B.E. (Bachelors in Engineering) or B. Tech (Bachelors in Technology). This is the second situation, where students again have to work on their decision taking abilities. Because, selecting a proper institute/college to pursue further studies is very important step in career development. By now, they have really worked hard to score their best in class XII, so that they may get admission in desired institute. SDM Institute of technology, Ujireis one of such institutes which undoubtedly aims at students overall personality development. SDM Institute of technology, Ujire came into existence in the year 2007-08 is managed by SDM Education Society, Ujire which is a charitable organization functioning under the aegis of Shri KshethraDharmasthala with the intrinsic aim to harbor technical excellence in India. Under the guidance of its distinguished visionary president Dr. D. VeerendraHeggade, the management spearheads its activities in more than 50 institutions across Karnataka forming the base for studies in the subjects ranging from General Education, Medicine, Engineering, Law, Social Sciences, Management, Naturopathy and Ayurveda. We are happy to place on record that, our President has been conferred with Padmavibhushana Award in 2015 for his excellent service and achievement in social service and rural development.

SDM Institute of technology, Ujire founded as 42nd child of SDM Education Society Ujire during the year 2007-08. The Society is dedicated to the pursuit of holistic education and academic excellence in the technical arena. Along with carving a niche for itself the Society has promoted the general advancement of knowledge by igniting the cerebral dimensions of the students and by nurturing their innate talents. Most of the professional colleges have been centered in urban areas whereas the SDMIT is situated in a purely rural area. The institute is not only contented with completing syllabus prescribed by the University. Additionally, several additional inputs are provided to students to make them employable when they complete graduation.

Further, the campus life at SDMIT is an enjoyable experience as students spend their off-academic hours in participating in the activities like sports, music, dance, debate, quiz, etc. In addition, majority of the students and staff carry out large number of social benefit activities like blood donation camps, mentoring and motivating primary and high school students, involving/conducting SwachhataAbhiyaan, providing awareness among the public about road safety, etc. 

Scope for placement

More than 85% of eligible candidates receive campus placements. Dream offers are also given to students. During the last batch, their students are placed in IBM, HP, Infosys, Tech Mahindra, Global Edge, Accord Software, Airtel, Hinduja group, TVS group, Robosoft, etc. Recruited students are getting an average package of 3.5 lakhs per annum while the highest package till date was 7.5 lakhs per annum.

Intensive pre-placement trainings and associated activities are offered to students. These activities are monitored by fully pledged placement committee that has representatives from all the departments.

In addition to the above, thorough orientation is also given about defense opportunities, public sector openings, off-campus recruitments (and requirements), higher studies and research opportunities (in India as well as abroad), certification programmes, etc.


Presently the Institute has faculty members including Doctorates as per the AICTE norms. More than 50% of the faculty members have 10+ years of teaching experience making the teaching pool a good blend of experience and fresh thoughts.

Apart from providing regular academic support, faculty members mentor each student in academic and non-academic aspects through effective mentoring system. They focus on overall skill development of learners by nurturing them to participate in a variety of learning activities.

  • The institute has got two University ranks – one in 2012 and the other in 2014, apart from obtaining more than 95% results regularly.
  • The institute is crowned with reputed National and State Level Best chapter awards by Indian Society for Technical Education, New Delhi during 2015 and 2016.
  • Several students of the institute won medals in University and State level sports and cultural events. Our students represented University in national level events in the sports of badminton, weightlifting and power lifting.
  • Recently, a group of students of SDMIT created Guinness world record on dual sided portrait using 4500 Rubik’s cubes. Another student came in the top three in the final of “Speak for India” contest organized by Times of India and Federal Bank group.
  • The institute successfully organized several mega events like Karnataka State Council for Science and Technology- KSCST State level project exhibition, National Conference, ISRO outreach programmes, Indian Society for Technical Education (ISTE) student fest, University and state level sports championships, etc.
