One Mega Event Begins Tomorrow

The three-day One Mega Event organised by the India Trade Promotion Organisation (ITPO), and the Exhibitions India Group, will begin on Wednesday, May 10, at Pragati Maidan in New Delhi.
 
Inaugural Ceremony: 10 am – 11 am
 
The Inaugural Ceremony at 10.00 am tomorrow will have Chief Guest, Shri Rajiv Gauba, I.A.S., Secretary, Ministry of Urban Development, deliver the Inaugural Address. 
 
With wide-ranging experience in senior positions at policy making and programme implementation, Shri Gauba was Chief Secretary, Jharkhand, and also served in the Ministries of Home, Defence, Finance, Environment and Forests, and Department of Electronics and Information Technology. He even represented India for four years on the Board of the International Monetary Fund (IMF). 
 
Shri Gauba affirms that with the launch of new urban development initiatives such as the Smart Cities Mission, Atal Mission for Rejuvenation and Urban Transformation (AMRUT), and Swachh Bharat Mission, the focus of the Ministry is on the effective and timely implementation of the schemes by states and urban local bodies.
 
Shri L.C. Goyal, I.A.S., Chairman & Managing Director, ITPO, will deliver the Opening Address, while Guest of Honour Ms. Safra A. Catz, chief executive officer of Oracle Corporation (U.S.A.), will deliver the Keynote Address. Oracle is the diamond partner for One Mega Event.
 
The Ambassador of the Netherlands to India, H.E. Alphonsus Stoelinga will attend the ceremony. The Dutch business delegation at One Mega Event are looking forward to strengthen relationships and to discover new business opportunities.
 
Ms Mei-Hua Wang, Economic Vice Minister, Taiwan, who has worked tirelessly to attract technology startups and build an ecosystem for entrepreneurship, will be present at the ceremony.
 
Inaugural Conference Session: 11.30 am
 
The Inaugural Conference Session, Smarter Solutions for a Better Tomorrow, at 11.30 am, will be chaired by Shri Sanjeev Sanyal, Principal Economic Adviser, Ministry of Finance, Government of India. One of Asia's leading financial economists, he has played the role of change-agent for India, to enhance India's image as an international investment destination. Shri Sanyal was Chief Economist and Director of Global Markets Research at Deutsche Bank in Singapore until 2008.
 
The session provides a global vision to successfully accommodate the projected growth in India's urban population. Experts on the panel will examine where India stands today with key enabling technologies and innovative deployment of next generation technologies. Governance models and leadership strategies for transforming cities will be a key point during the discussion. Current attitudes of citizens and how governments are trying to achieve enhanced citizen engagement will be another important part of the discourse. The session will look at the roadmap for smart sustainable cities, along with the multiple growth opportunities in the smart city ecosystem.
 
Extending India's global appeal for investment in diverse sectors, One Mega Event illustrates the multi-pronged strategy of the Indian Government, which is driven by the Make in India, Digital India and Skill India initiatives, and the Smart Cities Mission to transform trade and industry into an engine of socio-economic growth.
